I expect every CAD/CAM software will open up Autocad's DXF and DWG files. Mastercam certainly does. But you have to do the grunt work of creating the g-code as it will not automatically do it.
I use MDI to run one line of code at a time. Common ones I don't erase but I put a mandatory stop, M0, on the next line. This way I can have about 4 one liners at a time in the MDI and I just...
I use the Mastercam create-> Create Letters to create the text geometry. Normally I font' care about the font so I use the default font of "MCX (Box) Font" This simple font creates the letters as...
With writing code if you don't use it you loose it. Typically I let MasterCam don't the grunt work with generating G-code. Let me know if you do work it out...
I'm guessing the error comes up at line N960
If you draw a circle with radius you want ( .3755 ) around the circles center point (-1.6405-.3755,-.016) = (-2.0160,-.016) the point you are asking the...
Thanks JIm!
One thing that I didn't expect....
I checked the G54 and G55 locations and the X seemed to of shifted +.070
I did replace the encoder but I thought it had amnesia when it's...
Replaced the Encoder and now it works.
I can't see any obvious damage to the one that was replaced. Some of the dust from the brushes (Graphite?) could of gotten into it but it's probably...
Update...
I was able to switch the X and Z motors.
The Z axis now runs away (Rapid move upward) when It's being homed. I stopped it with the E-Stop as I didn't think it was worth taking the chance...
I'd like to try and test/see the output of the encoder as I have access to o-scopes etc.
I assume the X roller switch is what I called the X home/Limit switch which I have a picture of above. ...
Looking at the X home switch everything looks fine. Attached is a picture361422
I'm glad it was suggested as you can see the switch rolled half way up the ramp. I can still turn the X axis screw...
Not sure if you sorted this out already, maybe the forum "Post Processors for MC" would be more appropriate...
I hacked into my post and edited to what I needed. The path and file name to my 4th...
I have a 1995 VF3
In the middle of drilling a hole pattern I heard what sounded like a bit snapping and sure enough the drill bit had snapped. It looks when drilling it started to wander a little...
I was getting Alarm 153 and sometimes Alarm 103. I saw this thread and decided to replace the X axis encoder which fixed the problem.
The hardest part was taking the encoder off the motor. I...
Yes it's F2.
Found the problem (Thank Goodness!!!)...
Setting 28 was OFF
When set as OFF I have to have define X or Y on the G81 block
Below is from the Haas web site on Settings
This...
I have a 1995 VF3 which will not execute G81, G83 or G84 commands. These are all in Group 9. The machine runs fine otherwise as far as I can tell running G0, G1, G2 and G3.
It's possible it's in...
Isn't this the parameter for Spindle Acceleration/De-acceleration? Parameter #120 for older Haas mills.
I did quite a bit of turning the ball screw by hand with the machine powered down I don't remember any noise from the bearings or anything else. It's all packed up now but with a 1995 machine I'm...
Wise advise from gentlegiant...
The problem was from the ball screw became loose. There are 5 screws which bolt the ball screw Nut onto it's housing. 3 of the 5 screw heads were broken and the...
I swapped the Y and Z axis motor driver cards but it made no difference.
I put a dial indicator under the z axis and moved the z up and down the screen shows a change of up to .045" without the...
I have a weight.
I'll look to see if the weight is moving smoothly.
I'll try the running the program rapids and feed speed slower....
I"m running an aluminum job with a 1995 VF3 Haas.
When milling occasionally it will not go to the correct Z height. I 'm running 3 parts at a time for about 2 weeks on a fixture and everything...
I think the export option would work.
When you export, although it's not the default, you can also export the geometry with it. Before exporting I would put the new geometry into a different...
I assume you are trying to 3-d model the acme thread in solidworks. This is usually done with a sweep with the helix as the path.
Can you use different Solidworks configurations, each with a specific radius?
SM,
What a great little program!
Although it doesn't simulate the cutting it shows the tool path very nicely. It installed very easily, it's obvious how to use the software and free to boot....
Under the Toolpath Menu there is the "Manual Code..." option where you can type or upload g-code text.
Is there anyway that Mastercam can simulate this code with Verify or Backplot.
If not, can...
I'd use a manual method (edgefinder or indicator) to get the X and Y offset for the part and put it into G55 (assuming it's available). I'm under the impression that theoretically it should be the...
This ended up working or rather worked around the problem...
The default is set up for "Radius"
I changed it to "Delta start to Center" and it posted it as

I looked in the Control Definition Manager and I couldn't see were a fix would be
I added a simple contour of a circle and the output is below...

I had X3 and didn't have a problem with Helixing with the generic MILL 3 - AXIS VMC post but now with X5 I haven't been able to do it. I've been working around it for years but now I'm thread...
