Re: Gecko g540 ground pin burned out

In addition to the ground/0V pin 12 how does the +18V to 50V supply pin 11 look ?

pins 1 to 10 pass a low current and should be OK

the only other high current connections are the 9 way D-type...

its the first I have read of a G540 having burnt connectors but

Phoenix Contact connectors burning up are found on a number of threads

when did you measure 2.4V on a pin ?

    assuming your using a multimeter

you will see the direction pin toggle between 0V & 5V as you change direction

Re: CNC Controller not powering up

have you checked the fuse in the IEC mains inlet ?
    421876

if the fuse in the inlet is OK,
the mains ON /OFF switch should be Illuminated when switched on

    Re: optical switch help

what was not clear from the sx4009-p1 data sheet is if the switch is normally open or normally closed

Did you try connect more one opto-switch to a G540 input ?
if so how did you wire them ?

which breakout board or controller are you connecting...
  13. Re: Help with stepper/driver needed (low holding torque?)

From the photo showing both drivers it looks like they have the same switch settings

with one motor hot and the other cold

  14. Re: Help with stepper/driver needed (low holding torque?)

    yes

increasing microstepping is a trade off between a smoother movement and loss of torque

you will need to compensate for an increase microsteps in your control software

    PS...
  15. Re: Help with stepper/driver needed (low holding torque?)

I would expect the will be too hot to touch unless the motor is being under run or the auto current reduction is keeping the motor cool

    see data sheet

  16. Re: Help with stepper/driver needed (low holding torque?)

you could try increasing the current setting to 0.57A RMS

    switches 1 to 4 = on , off , off, on = 0.5A RMS

    the next current setting is off , off , off , on = 0.57 A RMS ( a 14%...
  17. Re: Help with stepper/driver needed (low holding torque?)

    OK ,
    5 off = 50% current reduction

with switches 6 to 8 set to off , on , on = half step

I would change to 8 microsteps off , on ,off

with switches 1 to 4 set to on , off , off...
  18. Re: Help with stepper/driver needed (low holding torque?)
