Thanks guys! That's what I suspected but wanted to confirm before spending the money. No rigid tapping in my future.

Somebody has to know whether or not v belts or flat belts are quieter than timing belts?
I have an excello mill similar to a bridgeport that I am currently close to finishing a retrofit on. I've got the spindle working great - it is a cat40 spindle belt driven by a 3hp motor/vfd. There...
Yikes! Guess I'm farther away than I thought. BTW - 5sec between tools is way to slow. That could take over 1.5 min to get a tool from the other side of the carousel. I was thinking more like...
Mike,
I've taken your advice and played with the settings a little. I've got it to behave normalish. It seems quite slow and sluggish and it still jerks in the opposite direction after making a...
OK Mike, thanks for your help. I will try that tonight.
I just heard back from Machmotion and they think the problem is too much inertia on the motor and they suggest a gearbox.
Anyone want...
400w TECO ac servo as found here:
TECO 400W AC Servo Drive and Motor
tsta-20c drive
TSC06401C motor
Thanks!
Hi guys,
Just working on retrofitting an old mill with Mach3 and servos/drives from Machmotion. Got everything up and running great including x/y/x axis. My problem is with my A axis which is a...
No Vari-speed here. This is a clone with a 2speed gearbox, spindle and motor.

OK but take the motor and spindle out of the picture. How about just the gearbox itself?
My motor is good for 7500 and the spindle is presumably good for 10-12k.
Anyone want to venture a guess as to how fast is safe for a hi/lo gearbox?
Not trying to hijack...
I too am very interested in the outcome of this thread. I have a BP clone with a VFD. I have no idea what bearings are in my spindle otherwise I would look up the rpm ratings on the bearings.

Been a while, progress is slow... I'll try to keep this thread updated once in a while just in case anyone ever attempts a retrofit on one of these down the road.
I now have all of the drives...
Hi guys,
I'm sure the answer to my question is simple but I cant seem to find out with relentless searching. I have a DC servo spindle motor that I'd love to use with Mach3. How do I control...
can anyone tell me the model# of this machine?
Damn... I was afraid that I couldnt run the 15hp on a smaller rated VFD. It's not that I need 15hp, it's just that I have that spindle for free:) It's from our work machines that each run 2 of...
Al,
The servos are definately dc servos, Electrocraft E26-2. Cant find any info on max rpms or hp. Probably not useful anyways as there are no encoders and no way to mount encoders directly on...

Hi guys,
Just introducing myself and my new project. Been surfing this forum and others for education on how...
Thanks for the reply.. Yes sorry - 4k for the spindle.
So does the older fanuc 6 work in pretty much the same way as the newer ones? Like can I change parameters easily? Accel/decel etc..? Run...
Hi guys,
Long time reader, first post. I've been searching for a low cost mill to start off with and I have an opportunity to buy an excello for dirt cheap. Dont know much about it, dont know...
