Not sure if this is what you're after, but I deleted some lines, which should allow the cylinder to remain intact... when you cut the lines, you should plunge cut them... no lead in/out
I need some pointers here. Thought maybe the bright gentlemen on this board could point me in the right direction.

this file might help. Sometimes, with funky fonts I'll open a fonts dxf file, whichi previously created at 1'', to make scaling in fractions easy, create my geometry in the xy positive, and scale...
davek,
When I opened your file, it appears as a single line font, so I saved it as a dxf... I was going to manually convert the letters for you... Open this file, and tell me if it's what you...
Here's Jimmy.
The dxf file will need to be scaled (it's huge), and the dxf don't look real pretty, but it pockets out nicely!!! Attatched the a jpg of the machine verification
Still needs some cleanup... but it's a start take ths into your cad and tweak it from there. I can't get my cad to work on my home computer anymore
Yeah, Switcher you missed one. There's a function there called "auto route"
Hey Switcher
This may interest you and your friends. I bet combined with some Inkscape bitmap conversion programming, and a bit more work in the chaining and post processing for your toolpaths, (...
Needs some tweaking, but it's an excellent start

 manual tracing.... what a concept
Really nice work. I just thought maybe just maybe there was a single clik way you did it.
Nice work tpsega.... what software did you use to do your conversion?
Ahhhh.... the only flaw I've ever faced with inkscape. Here's a link that will help you to understand that problem, and a possible solution
USMC... this one engraves nicely. You'd need to clean it up quite a bit for any other purpose

I can't get inkscape to make a dxf with this file for some reason.
Last night I made one with 2000+ nodes, and I was surprised, but now it won't make one with -800 nodes
Why is...
I have heekscad on my home computer. We use mastercam at work, but I can make my conversions with inkscape, and view them with heekscad(free) then I know if it's worthy of even taking to the shop and...
here you go... the numbers should be messy, that way it looks like it's chalked on a blackboard.

Have you gotten the dxfr12 "plug in" from switcher's blog site? That is what you need in order to make a dxf file that can be opened in mastercam with Inkskape. I know it works, I use it for...
I'm running it with Vista on my new laptop Switcher, and had no issues installing dxfr12 into inkscape. Followed your instructions, and It works great... Thanks again btw
Clearcut,
Here's the dxf you pm'ed me for... it took me about 5 minutes including helping my son with his homework and searching for an image to convert the jpeg found on the 'net into this dxf...
