    I was largely just looking to speed up the rapids, Unfortunately you can't really speed up the cut feed because of the spindle limitations, for plastics you might be able to go 150ipm but much more...

    $60 iirc. The rod is carbide, its plenty stiff enough and a lot more forgiving with minor probing errors.

    I was able to remove a lot of the stylus deflection by getting new stylus's from renishaw. the one I have now is a 4mm X 15mm rod and 6mm ruby.
