Re: 304 stainless 1100 advise please!

304 can be a good money maker but you have to know what you are doing and you need to have a rigid machine, the light duty tormach can deflect easily and work harden the stainless and you are toast....

    Re: New Fadal Machines

The only thing the New Fadals have in relationship with the old ones is the name, I believe they are chinese imports if I remember correctly.

Poll: Re: HASS vs. Tormach 1100MX

If I had a chance to do it again I wouldn't of bought a Tormach and went straight to a real VMC right away.

Re: would you pick Doosan and why?

I would buy another Doosan in a heart beat. You can upgrade your memory if you need space just like on haas, just ask your salesman.

    Re: Doosan DNM 5700

The Doosan is a 41x22" machine and the DMG is a 31x22" machine. The Doosan is probably lower cost and has a Fanuc controller. I'd take the Doosan, because I have a great dealer and I like the Fanuc...

    Re: Parting 304 SS Help

be careful buying from latheinserts, they are good about sending you the wrong items and then not answering their phones or emails for months.

    Re: TORMACH PRICE INCREASE

It is, especially for the usable size and how slow it is. And if you actually want a turret and to be able to use it you are in the $22k range.

Re: 2d 6061 relatively small parts

The problem with quoting is that they are very thin parts and not easily held, the DXF files need a lot of help and pretty small quantities.

Re: Help me determine the best ROI!

My experience with my new Doosan lathe has been stellar and a comparable machine through Haas would of been $30k more. I'll buy more doosans.

Just remember with a 5k spindle you need 5k work holding. A lot of manual 3 jaw chucks aren't rated that high.
