I've nothing against hall effect switches, but must point out one possible failing here.
This design is fine for a homing switch, but has a limitation when used as a limit switch.

Different culture in China. Stayed in a hotel in Taipai, and there was no 4th floor.

Yes, the counter still works. Just don't see any need to use it. Suppose it's a predecessor of the DRO.
How thick is the cover plate, and how deep did you have to pocket it?
Tom
That upper picture looks very similar to what mine looks like.
The front of the mill looks better with the flat cover on it. Did you make that flat cover? What's it made of?
Tom
Thanks.
The shaft I'm referring to I haven't measured, but I'd guess it to be perhaps 3/4" to 1" in diameter.
Tom
Yes, it's the BOSS 5. Pulled the cover off, and there is a "gear" on the front end of the shaft. This "gear" drives the counter. I've never used the counter. Is anyone else actually using the...
I've got an ancient Bridgeport Model 1 CNC mill. Is starting to do fine for my needs.
But...
On the front end of the Y ball screw is a neat little gear set and counter, which probably is meant...
I sell a lot of shielded wire for a special purpose. I buy big rolls from John's Wire Shop, on eBay.
Although he typically lists 50 ft and 100 ft lengths, he'll gladly sell you 1 ft, or...
Thanks, Jeff
Here's a quick mock up, an image from the CAM program. Got to find a piece of stock to cut it from, to get the exact dimensions, but will probably add a border around the out side...
Want to make one or two logo nameplate for the Bridgeport.
Anyone have a good, straight on, photo of a BP logo plate?
Thanks
Tom
Just wondering how you made the finger pull.
I was already in the beginnings of making a small "pallet". I'm plan to saw the bar stock to length, then turn it upside down and drill and tap...
I'm liking this box, and have a huge bunch of female cousins I'd like to make something for.
Can you give me an idea of the size of this box? I realize that there is only one critical dimension....
I wasn't familiar with koa, so went to Wiki and read up on it. One thing that looks frightening is that the supply of koa is finite, and decreasing.
With this in mind, you need to consider your...
Don't know if this is the answer or not, but I see new Spindles for sale on eBay frequently.
Tom
And what would be the best vice for me to invest in? I will buy it used (I am on a retirement fixed income :-)
A Kurt would be ideal, assuming that one would ever come up for sale. Highly...
Did you ever get your question answered?
I bought a Boss5 and converted it to EMC2 and a PC. Used Geckos (this is really the only option) and a PMDX bob.
PMDX and Gecko both have excellent...
I've bought many of them off eBay. Typically around $25 or so, used.
Your scrap yard will buy the copper and iron from all the transformers at a good price.
Your dump probably won't charge you for all the computer boards. That's a good deal.
There is also a thread on here somewhere on replacing the variable speed head with two toothed pulleys and a toothed belt. If you've only got single phase in your shop, the VFD is a wonderful, which...
I would not pressure wash a cnc mill. Use a liberal application of your favorite liquid cleaner. (I happen to use 409). Brush it on, and eventually you'll have to start with a scrub brush and some...
Don't know what mill you've got, but....
I've got a series 1.
Seems like I remember reading in the Bridgeport manual that the only reason to ever take out the outside portion of the spindle is...
Roger,
Don't remember if you have 3 phase in your house or not. I don't, so started pulling out everything in the rear cabinet. In my case, I ended up pulling out everything in the rear cabinet,...
Don't know if you've got this problem solved or not. When I bought my very used Bridgeport Series I, it had been sitting for about ten years, and the oil had turned to grease. Had to replace all...
I just bought a limit switch from Automation Direct. It fits just fine, but is NOT the right switch.
Haven't found the right switch yet, but the original switch opens (or closes) at 10 degrees of...

Ann Arbor is pretty nice in June....
I'm using three different PMDX breakout boards, and I like them. Can't remember off hand what the numbers are on them.
Excellent support from these guys.
Don't know where you're located, but I...
Sorry about your bad luck. And if it doesn't fit, don't force it. You'll find something else in the future.
Tom
Thanks, Yc
Using EMC2 on an ancient Bridgeport. I could easily do this in a CAD-CAM program, but have been hand programming most of my simpler parts to get better acquainted with Gcode.
Need to cut a...
