Hello Men, I've been on this machine 3+ years but unfortunately it's been mostly repetitive turning work with a limited amount of milling other than basic hole processes and...

Gleason was a disappointment. They wouldn't even talk to me about it. When I try to long hand the x move it wipes the teeth.
Pic of turret positions.
I forgot to include that I'm on a u4000 with p300sa control...
I have the same triple holder but haven't registered it into the tool library yet... However, I do have a twin 80/55 tool that I use daily and it rocks! To properly register it so that it works with...
Here is a pic of the taper spline kicking my butt. Currently sending these out to be done on a "universal" type hobbing machine.
Pics of straight splines machined on multus, one with hob cutter, the other was done with a skive...
It's not a "real" hobbing machine but it does have all the axes. Hobbing software was an option at purchase of the Multus u4000 with osp-p300sa control. BA= tilt of head calculated by helix angle of...

Thanks for the response Ted, in doing some research and reading i remember something about adding 1 tooth to the index ratio but I can't find that article again. I'm not sure if I add the tooth to...
Good morning guys and thanks for the response. It will be at least a week, maybe longer before i begin setup on these so i can't do any trials or testing until then. However, i am running a straight...
It's been almost a full revolution around the sun and i have another order of these bastard parts coming up real soon... okuma was no help on this at all so im back doing more research and getting...
Any thoughts on reducing a 15 second tool change on a multus?
It's for the big yellow Emergency Return button right above the "e-stop" button.... it makes the tool escape out of the cut if the operator doesnt like how something looks or sounds. But the "feed...
You're on the right track and that is my hob/arbor setup, except that it is reversed... large end of hob is toward "top" of machine. the cutter will start into workpiece at full depth first then fade...
thanks for your time! Much appreciated...
Yes that code in the file is for a simple hob with one z pass. That is all the machine will output.
However, i "think" in could be edited to feed in...
Note that the name "taper spline" does not reflect the actual code. Its what i named it, the code produces no taper whatsoever.
I realize this is a difficult mess to wrap your head around. Even...
On this machine "X" is up and down... "Y" is front to back, z is left to right.
And what u said about moving to a new row of teeth when it becomes dull is exactly what i want to do. But i dont...
We have a ma500 space center but it has tombstones on it. I could replicate the same setup on the multus and 3d the damn thing but it's such a waste of time when ive got the $1000 hob that will do it...
As promised....
We're going to machine this part complete on the multus using the tapered hob in the first batch of pictures... note that major dia."of the workpiece" Is straight and only the root is tapered. The...
A few pics... I'll get the part specs posted asap if anyone replies
Multus u4000 with p300sa control.... it has it's own built in gear hobbing/skiving software but it is limited to only using a straight hob cutter as far as i can tell... u can make crowned gears...
