So far with the ZrN coated endmills aluminum hasn't even thought about sticking.
Well... I just won a RepRap Prusa Mendel on eBay... Wonder what I can get in trouble with now... Haha.... Hoss......
You can't measure torque by breaking the nut free, it takes more torque to take off a bolt than to install it. This is why they make breaker bars and impact guns....
I'm adjusted, the problem is the column itself. Shiming the spindle or anything will not fix the issue in the whole Z travel, only a small percentage of it. The problem is only magnified as you go up...
Are you willing to make and sell them? Very nice!
Just setting myself up for what is inevitable...
I hope to see pictures and read stories of failures, and how you fixed the problem.
A picture of the Good and Bad part please. :D
I just tear off a piece of paper, then wrap it around once or twice, making sure to put the overlap between chuck jaws, works great and is basically free and fast.
Coolant is working good so far, I started on a fixture for some parts I'll be making.
I'm not to happy about the rough machine marks, its from the nod on the Z my Taig has.... I'll fix it......
You could pin it like I did in a thread near this one.
I have the same issue only I haven't measured mine exactly. When putting a Dial Test Indicator in the spindle and rotating it my needle is withen .0005" parallel to the X, but if I spin it so the...
I'm to the point where I need to adjust my gibs better, and it being CNC I really am not sure how to go about that. I have tore off the motors and did the adjusting by feel the first time, but I...
Buying the right drill for the job will in itself speed it up. I only use Parabolic Drills for aluminum, no pecking needed, I've done many holes with a 1/4" Parabolic and some WD-40 and never pecked...
I love my 5056D drivers... Does a G540 have the option for Half Current to keep heating to a minimum?
Taig works good if you take VERY light cuts.... I'm finding out....
Agree with Irwin tap holders, I use them in my DeWalt Impact, so far never broken one..... In aluminum! As for the Dillion holder, thats sweet, I personally use a CO-AX with Comp Dies... But I'm...
A simple capacitor on the pump will fix the issue.... But if bearings are your issue, then better bearings or better coolant is your fix...
Have any of you used Rhino 3D and Rhino Cam?
Done for tonight...
My buddy had a shurflo 2.8gpm 12vdc pump, I temp'd it in for now..
Here is my son and I building the temp shower curtain enclosure.
I will probably go with this pump if it works good. Thanks...
Started to make a fixture today, first time using coolant, 10min in, and.... Pump burnt out. It wasn't ideal, it was a battery powered pump that I rigged up to double the voltage to get it flowing...
I may make a probe like that, good idea.
Which reminds me of that kid vs lathe video!
Yeah, just getting my shop/garage finished before I move on to a lower paying job....
Thanks! I used the WiFi before, and didn't have an issue, I was worried at first but so far it works great. I have ran Rhino3D, and internet all at the same time with no issues. I know its frowned...
That is what this tub is called, and was by the concrete and such.
Here is my mess I have to clean up now.... In half the garage!
Woooooo! Coolant!
Gettin there...

Blowing in the wind huh? My job is entirely based on wind... Weird...
I see.
Well here is what I've done so far today.
Wired in my new power supply, A axis driver, built a monitor stand, put in start, hold, stop buttons, finished coolant setup, put computer in...
Got my Rotary table and a New 48v supply yesterday. This sherline table is VERY quality, are there mills just as quality, did I make a mistake buying a Taig.....
Took the switch box off, 2 screws... Hmm.... I'll put my magnetic coolant block there!
