Re: Designing a new router called Brevis-HD

Yes the SKR and Octopus are complete control boards. Sorry if I was mileading. It's normal for Marlin to be a stand alone appliance controlled by a lcd screen with a rotary knob and a micro SD card...

Re: Designing a new router called Brevis-HD

Are you talking about the CB1 or CM4 module instead of a Pi? Found your discussion on v1e. Fun read. No worries about the firmware. Easy as editing a text file, compling, copying the config to a...

Re: Designing a new router called Brevis-HD

There are builds that utilize klipper on both linux and windows however by far most people use a Raspberry Pi and as a first install I would recommend you do the same. Youtube streamer Nero 3d is...

Re: Designing a new router called Brevis-HD

Very interesting. Just to clarify, you are outputting to external drivers and not the ones onboard? I definitely like BTT stuff. Have them running a couples printers in both Marlin and Clipper.
  5. Re: Newbie CNC Router Rebuild Seeking New Controller Advice

and ofcourse the best reason for ESS is the offloading the pulse generation from the PC to the ESS for smoother stepper operation and higher reliability as the code can be queued up on the dedicated...
  6. Re: Newbie CNC Router Rebuild Seeking New Controller Advice

Now if I was going PC less I'd buy Masso but there is a premium to it.
  7. Re: Newbie CNC Router Rebuild Seeking New Controller Advice

Those 201's are nice stuff. Easy to add another drive. There are economical BOB's if you don't have space on the current one. You could consider going with a Ethernet Smooth Stepper. Not cheap but...
  8. Re: Any thought on my Z axis Design (first build) Steel vs Aluminium Plate?

I have the BLH20 for my x & y and they are excellent. I should've bought them from the beginning. There should be no concern for any wood cutting application.

    Re: Urbs New Build

Hey, thanks. Yes. There is plenty of room for a manual tool change.
  10. Re: Contemplating a build and could use some input

I agree what was said before, over 48" 8020 is inadequate. Even 8040 as you see in many other kits is not enough for the gantry beam. However being easy to cut and assemble extrusion does simplify...

    Re: Urbs New Build

I just noticed there is no good view of the rail system for the dust shoe. The rail is standard t-slot with a standard t-lot bolt and knob. The rail bearing is plastic that holds the plwood arm in...

    Re: Urbs New Build

After many tries at each component the dust shoe is done. Using Fusion 360 was particularly trying. Hopefully over time I'll get a better handle of how to model objects. Happy with the result and the...

    Re: Urbs New Build

Some actual cutting. A simple pocket cutout. 1/4" 2 flute upward spiral bit at 100 ipm, 0.125 doc, and around 18000 rpm on the spindle. I'll need to add another second or so to give the spindle time...

    Some pictures of recent progress.

Added a grounding bar from spare aluminum angle. Really crooked drilling there. Still have to change out some wire for the shielded equivilent. Mounted the e-stop...

Re: Setting up - Dialing in 3D printer

Tuning out stringing is mainly from two settings. Retraction and nozzle temp. With direct drive extruders 1mm is a good starting point. Temp is filament dependant. Most PLA's can be printed around...

The motor cables were from my first table and assembled poorly with electrical tape and no understanding of grounding the shielding. Remade but those too will need to be replaced for adequate length...

    Re: Urbs New Build

  21. Re: Unconventional wood construction CNC router build continued.

Love the fishing cart. Looking forward to seeing how this develops. I do wish you had budget for linear rail. Even cheap sbr will far outperform the aluminum angle and you'll likely find the steel v...
  22. Re: QueenBee Pro Build - experience and thoughts

I had seriously considered the QueenBee before deciding I would design my own. I had my doubts and as you have confiirmed the single 8040 for the gantry was not adequate for 1500mm length. You could...

    Re: Finally building a 4x8

I wouldn't worry about how loud the spindle is. The cutter on wood will be much louder. Much. I run an air cooled spindle and it doesn't seem to make "extra" dust.
  28. Re: need advice: laser and spindle together, or just laser?

Ideally you would have two separate machines space allowing. A router need stiffness and rigidity where a laser not so much. That weight penalty would end up for a slow machine. If you were to run a...

    Re: Longmill vs DIY?

More robust than the delrin wheel versions of cnc? Yes. Those wheels are not known for longevity under load. I definitely think you could make a much more rigid 2'x2' frame for less than $1500 but...
