Is the model transparent? Is it the same color as the BobCad background?
The toolpath default color is green. Maybe you're seeing that? Right click the profile feature in the CAM tree and blank the toolpath to see if it was covering the blue wireframe.
Hi,
I just looked & you can still get the V23 build 1812 update from bobcad's support site.
Just go to software updates and scroll to the bottom until you find a button that says "click here to...
That line going up the middle of the tool looks suspicious. The error message you received usually occurs when the assigned tool geometry can't be modeled in the simulation. Remember, solid lines for...
To my knowledge Bobcad doesn't have that function, unless the newer versions have it. (I'm using V30)
Here's how I do it:
Draw the two shapes.
Draw linking lines between the shape as...
If I try to run a program block from a script block like this
2030. Program Block 30. Insert G119 Helix to ramp into pocket opp_type1 = MILL_GetOperationType()
if opp_type1 = 202 and...
Exact stop mode forces the machine to hit the programmed points dead on before moving to the next point. It causes slow jerky motion on programs with a lot of tiny lines and arcs. G61 turns exact...
Hi Jmooresshop, Have you got this figured out?
I once consulted for a shop running all Mazaks and they kept throwing errors trying to thread mill. Turns out they ran their machines in IPR mode all...
Believe it or not, I didn't know until last night that Bobcad was using Visual Basic Scripting. I was just poking around using what shell scripting commands I could remember from years ago when I...
This line in the post processor
82. Standard drill canned cycle with dwell.
n,g_canned_cycle,g98_g99,x_f, y_f,drill_depth,reference_plane,"[3T]"dwell,canned_feed_rate
Created this program.

I would think you're correct, but I have for an example is this drilling cycle presumably written by BOBCAD that I found in a post processor for a TRAK DPM milling machine.

Thanks, I have a PDF of that page. I never noticed the spaces. I assumed it was the font type spacing. I tried it, but I still can't make it work. It also seem the version I mentioned with the double...
Go to bobcad's home page. Not the bobcad support site. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and look for "Downloads" then "Post Processors"
Thanks for the suggestion,
I had read that before asking my question, but it didn't work. So I later read through all the post processors I have and found an example showing this usage:

I might have found an answer:
2008. Program Block 8. store x y end values from g101 moves
xb = MILL_MakeXString(MILL_GetXFeed())
yb = MILL_MakeYString(MILL_GetYFeed())
seems to...
Hi All,
I'm trying to build a custom post processor to use with BobCad V30 for a machine that uses it's own g-code format. I'm having trouble getting some variables to output in the correct...
No problem! By helping others I educate myself in the process. It's a win/win. :cheers:
jay_dizzle,
I see what your complaining about now, but you have nothing to worry about. The tool isn't going to crash. It drives me crazy too. I would want it uniform. My preference is to have the...
I need to fix a mistake:
This applies to 3D adaptive roughing tool paths not 2D.
I realized the "Rapid Plane" setting for 2D pocketing is an absolute Z value relative to the "Top of...
jay_dizzle,
What you are seeing is the difference between rapid retract and link clearance. When using adaptive tool paths you should set the "Rapid Plane" taller than your max pocketing depth....
My friend had nothing but trouble with a UC100 (maybe he didn't know how to set it up right). He switched to an ethernet Smooth Stepper. No problems and faster speeds.
A PCI or PCI-e parallel port...
These are posts I've been using for years with My DPM MX3 and QCM QMV controls. I've modified them to work better for how I program and how these older controls work. I hope they help.

Hi Timothy,
I don't know if you ever got the answer you needed, but I've used Bobcad for 14 years to build molds from V21 through V30. The geometry problem you are seeing is purely bobcad's...
Here are the files this time zipped and uploaded directly to CNCZONE,
Have fun.
Is there a way to edit my post so I can remove the bad link to the photo? I can't find an edit button any where.
Has anyone checked out the file? I was hoping this would be a discussion of my...
So, I guess I'll find a new image hosting site.
I am so sorry that happened to you! What did you click? The picture or the link to the file?
I can't re-create the problem. The picture should take you to postimage .com and the link to the file...
Hi All,
I've been using the projects in Titans of CNC Academy to improve my skills in BobCadCam. I'm posting in part to show off my work, and also to ask if anyone knows a way to make it more...
These are mostly CNC cut threads. Major dia. is turned within limits given in Machinery's handbook. We're using seco insert 60 deg partial profile threading tools. The tool tip has a small radius but...
Hi All,
I've noticed a problem when trying to measure turned threads. When I measure threads using the 3 wire method the threads measure nominal according to the chart that came with the wires....
