I completely dissembled the vise and found the problem. The bearing on the screw was dragging. I simply loosened the collar that "loads" the bearing and it now moves freely like my D675.

It looks to me that the drag is not from the moving jaw, it slides smoothly. The drag is from the rotating screw in the nut, or the bearing.
