    Hello,

I'm looking to make an rotary axis/indexer onto my cnc router machine. I'm gona use a wood lathe so that i can use the lathe also besides the cnc.
I would use a low backlash planetary...

Thanks for the reply! Do you use the division master with the cncn?
Any idea where you got the excentrinc bushings?

    Jukka,

Are you still happy with the rotary axis?

    Nice!

I see these are the HTD versions profile, wouldn't it be better to keet the gt2 profile for better accuracy?

In my neck of the woods 14mm is te norm. Leadshine, lam techonologies, sanyo denki all comes standard with the 14 axle.
If i don’t find the 14mm pulleys i wil look into adapting the 1:2 ones.
  7. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

At the moment i'm searching a 20T motor pulley to fit 14 mm keyway axis. The avid ones are 20T 1/2" keyway, but in europe most steppers the size i need are 14mm.
I've searched for the last couple...

    Oops,

    Missed out on the posts!

Thanks for the extra info, will lok into it!
Surely the avid cnc is well designed! Only "flaw" is rigidity of the system.

    Thanks for the link!
Unfortunate but there is no rack and pinion option on there site.

  10. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

    Craig,

    Thanks for the calc!
If i understand correct my inertia ratio would be 19.8/2.2 = 9
Reading about inertia mismatch the say "best but almost impossible" would be 1/1. Ok would be be max...
  11. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

    Thanks for the effort,
Trying to understand what you have done here.

The cutting page is clear to me.
About the torque page, if i understand correct, i need 0,42Nm just to run my system without...
  12. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

Checked the manual, and it's possible to place this kind of PSU in serial/parallel if needed. Just need to provide a correct diode to get it working.
  13. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

    Thanks,

There is already a 24VPSU on the way to place in serial with the 48V i have.
    Rodw Mentioned this also.
So first point i will attack.

I have data for the motors at 72V with an 6arms...
  14. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

Stepper size is nema 34 with 6.8NM of peak torque.
    See first post for specs.
  15. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

    Hey Peter,

    Thanks for the input.
The photo of the drive is correct.
If i look at the avid cnc specs on the site the pinion (on the rack) is 1" PCD. The pionion has 2OT to 64T reduction wich...
  16. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

this is what i can give:

    MACH Settings for R&P:
    * The R&P system is based on a pinion with a 1" pitch circle. The total linear distance traveled per revolution of the pinion is thus 3.14159"....
  17. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

Craig, no ballscrews, its a rack and pinion setup.
  18. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

  19. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

    Gerry,

    Thanks for the reply,

    yes it's 320 N, was a typo.

I'm sure vibration is a machine rigidity issue, the short movements make it vibrate. I don't have motor issues at the moment. But...

anybody that can help me out?
  21. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

I’ve been taking in some more info about the subject.
First thing i’m gonna do is fitting a bigger psu and see what this brings.
I received the curves for 72V and these look promissing. I hope the...

  23. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

Thanks for the added info! Will look into it and do my homework.

I would only upgrade x and Y axis (3 motors) The Z axis are sufficient.
The motor that comes free i would use for a home build 4th...
  24. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

    Thanks all for the input!

Will look into the 72V PSU, why toroidal?

While i'm learning something, a couple more questions:

The reason i've added the closed loop steppers was not for having...
  25. Re: Replacing steppers for more torque options / Advice wanted

    Rod,

do you have an avidcnc machine?

is i calculate the max voltage for the steppers i just get 48V , so i suppose the steppers i have don't handle 70V?
    32 Rootsquare 2mh = +- 48 V max?...

Looking for 10A stepper driver leadshine?

    Hello,

I'm looking for a good driver to feed a 2 phase 10 Arms stepper motor.
At the moment i have leadshine drivers up to 7 Amp, but if i look into their range the have no drivers above 8.8...
