here in Brazil taxes are high, so I paid only for those linear rails that are installed US$3.200,00.
It's a shame.
Here are the pictures of the Z axis support.
It's made of a 2 inches steel plate.
Some more photos.
Linear rails are aligned.
That machine belongs to a friend. At first I thought buying that machine to retrofit it, but it is very expensive here in brazil, so I started building one from scratch.
I learned that is easier...
I like your design. I'm building a big one too.
How about the spindle? any thoughts yet?
I had to wait a little, I had to save money to buy the linear rail.
If you pay attention to the photo you will see a 6¨ caliper.
The rails are 65mm (2.55¨) by 2500mm (97").
I will have I lot of...
I had the base painted to prevent rusting, and moved it to my home.
I have chosen the moving gantry design to make it easier to fit it in my small home shop.
Great work and great site Khalid.
1) I didn't gave much thought to the spindle yet, but I will have automatic tool change, a 2.2 to 3.7 kw motor controlled with a inverter.
2)I will be using...
Yes. The bent profile is made of 1/2 inch steel and the covers and internal support of 3/8 steel, and the table is made of 1 1/2 normalized steel plate.
After building a small cnc lathe and retrofitting a small round column milling machine (like bf-30) I decided to build something bigger.
As always I took advantage of a good friend of mine to help...
Hi all,
I have built a cnc lathe, with gang tooling, which runs ok with turbocnc.
But, what I have found is that "there is no cheap software for generating gcode for a lathe" in high level...
How to use a lathe gang fixture with turbo cnc? how about tool offset? when tools are changed are the axis zeroed?
What is the easiest way to use it without special cam software?
my setup:...
look maa... no hands...
there is no backlash in the couplings. Each coupling has four bearings ... These couplings are used in cars of the Fiat brand, in the direction column (steering system).
This was built around as...
I got so much involved in the project that I forgot to take pictures...
The first picture was made when the X axis was being built.
The others shows how the motor is linked to the ballscrew.
The...
Guldberg, You have a great lathe. I should have researched a bit before starting the construction of my lathe ... ;)
Actually, I was referring to the z axis, however I'm thinking of doing the two...
I needed a surface plate so I friend of mine took a piece of black basalt and polished it really well, and gave it to me as a present.
I cant see any diference from a comercial surface plate.
May...
It has two welded ribs, but it is installed low in the "frame".
Im using a single pair of V Belt. The motor has 3500 rpm, but I'll get 2500. I'll install a frequency inverter in the motor.
I...
Hi all, this is the construction log of my first cnc lathe that i'm building with help of some friends.
It has a 1hp 3phase 220volts spindle motor, a 4 inch chuck and 70 centimeters x axis (about...
