Once everything is tightened back up still try and rock the saddle around during a test cut just to be sure.

Back when I was messing quite a bit with my G0602 (when you could buy a new G0602 for under $1000) I had some issues like you are describing. In my case I could see banding when I turned a part that...
Turret problems can be tough to troubleshoot since there are quite a few factors in play. I recently had a ‘A Axis’ servo amp fail and swapped it with an unused bar feeder amp that identified the...
Would anyone know what size screws Haas normally used to mount the original 6" LMC 3 jaw to the SL-10 A2-5 spindle? My SL-10 A2-5 spindle was using 7/16-14 X 1.25" screws to mount the original...
I’m not an expert on this but…
Will the error clear if you hit the reset button rapidly 3 or 4 times in a row?
What is your parameter 294 set to? Is it 270 ? You could temporarily try setting...
Deadly kitten,
Thanks for the detailed reply. I ordered a LMC PC-6-46-01. The seller and mfg both report it comes with a 55mm x 2.0 draw tube nut. The LMC catalog states that PN chuck is sold...
From what I understand so far. Correct me if I’m wrong please…. As long as I have a chuck that has a A2-5 mount and a draw tube nut that matches my 55mm X 2.0mm draw tube threads, I should be able...
I recently picked up my first Haas Lathe a SL-10. It came with a Royal 3J A2-5 collet chuck only. I would like to get setup for a 6” 3 jaw Kitagawa b206 type that ships from the factory. I was...

They don’t scrape it at the factory so you should be fine. You will need to adjust the gibs though.

I agree the clearpath hardware won’t do much for a G0704 unless you really went nuts with some high quality ball screws/nuts, linear rails and good quality thrust bearings. Just go with The 50V...
Got my brushless Sigma 1 HRT160B up and running with Fusion 360. The pre NGC A axis post processor included with Fusion seems to work fine so far.

Fusion 360. It includes cad and cam. There are Acorn post processors available and it’s all free.

One problem with the mini lathes is that they have very little spindle power. Try and find a used 9x20, 10x22 or even 12x36. You will be much happier in the long run.

Looking great! Glad you are over the hump. I wouldn’t worry much about speeds yet. Just keep concentrating on all of those fiddly things you won’t want to finish later.

I picked up this 5C chuck with a back plate threaded for a G0602 off EBay for $180 shipped. I think it was from CDCO.

I will look into the file share in an hour or two and fix it. For the encoder belt design I was thinking of replacing the spindle gear with a pulley of about the same thickness. The gears are...
Here are the Fusion files. If you make the parts, post some photos in this thread so we can see them. Can you share a link to the Russtuff' diy encoder?

I wired up the encoder tonight and mounted it on the lathe. The encoder is working as advertised and the gears are holding up nicely. I ran the spindle up to 5000 rpm for a bit and everything did...
Yes I wired up the braking module and have been running it. It seems to work fine. I have been running it with an external resistor. It’s not mounted yet as you can see though.

V2 of the encoder mount is done.
