  1. Re: DMM DYN4 Wiring Fault Alarm to Breakout Board

Mactec, can you walk through how you modify the encoder cables to a custom length? Do you simply cut and solder each wire back, or do you re-crimp the motor side encoder connector? I walked through...
  2. Re: DMM DYN4 Wiring Fault Alarm to Breakout Board

Mactec, thanks for the follow up. You may be correct. My motor and encoder cables had alot of extra length. I was able to shorten the motor cables, but couldn't do anything about the encoder cables....
  3. Re: DMM DYN4 Wiring Fault Alarm to Breakout Board

Thanks for the fast feedback. Ill try this out and follow up.

  4. Re: DMM DYN4 Wiring Fault Alarm to Breakout Board

Yes, I'm using the proper EMI filters as recommended by DMM on both the power and signal sides. The DYN4 drivers are properly grounded though it's hard to quantify the efficacy of a ground. The...
  5. Re: DMM DYN4 Wiring Fault Alarm to Breakout Board

Jmhx2, thanks for the fast response. Sorry for the late reply, had some work travel, then the holiday week. Your suggestion worked well. No pull up resistors are needed with the C10 board and the...
  6. DMM DYN4 Wiring Fault Alarm to Breakout Board

When I installed the DYN4 drives I didn't have enough I/O to wire up the drive fault alarms. I've since picked up a C10 board and using Port 3 on an ESS to allow for more I/O. I've wired Pin 18 ALM...
  7. Re: Using FDM for making gears. Looking for best practice for using G54-59

Simplify 3D is the premier slicing software for 3D printing used by most pro FDM print shops. It offers a mode called multiple process, sequential printing which will allow you to print many layers...
  8. Re: DMM Servos with DYN4 Drives on G0704 Random Alarm Issue

Wanted to follow up on this to close out the issue for anyone who may choose DMM 400W Nema 23 motors for a G0704 sized machine using direct drive. It turns out that the 400W Nema 23 motors from DMM...
  9. Re: DMM Servos with DYN4 Drives on G0704 Random Alarm Issue

Mactec54, thanks for the help. I've thrown in the towel. I've uninstalled the 400W servos and drives. They will ship back to DMM for exchange to 750W Nema34 motors and DYN4-H drives. I'll feedback in...
  10. Re: DMM Servos with DYN4 Drives on G0704 Random Alarm Issue

Ok, I'm understanding a bit better. My max frequency settings are set at the default 256. I don't have homing setup yet, so the homing speeds are all 0 at the moment.
  11. Re: DMM Servos with DYN4 Drives on G0704 Random Alarm Issue

I wanted to update this post for anyone else who may have the same issue - the Smoothstepper was installed and pulse rate set to 100kHz (max setting in Mach3). Unfortunately, the X-axis alarmed out 5...
  12. Re: DMM Servos with DYN4 Drives on G0704 Random Alarm Issue

Thanks so much. The Smoothstepper is on order. I'll start with that then if needed step up to the 750W motors/drives. I appreciate your inputs.

  13. Re: DMM Servos with DYN4 Drives on G0704 Random Alarm Issue

    Mactec54,

Thanks for the solid feedback. I'll definitely move to the smoothstepper. Ill try the 65kHz as a temporary limp along solution as well.

All my axes are direct drive 1:1. The 400W...
  14. DMM Servos with DYN4 Drives on G0704 Random Alarm Issue

I recently upgraded the steppers on my G0704 from steppers to DMM 400W servos on the X & Y, and 750W on the Z, all with DYN4 drives. Everything progressed well until a shakedown run when the 400W X...

Re: What coolant mist system is this?

You can buy them here from the same maker that NYCNC got them from. I use one, its actually a pretty good idea and works nicely.

  17. Re: ATC Automatic Tool Changer Mach3 Script Screenset

I recommend waiting for Sam at CNC4XR7 to publish his update. I use his screenset on a 10 tool carousel ATC with Mach 3 on my G0704 mill, and its been perfect. Very reliable, and he's even customized...

    Re: iso20 vs TTS

The Chinese TTS copies are still around on Ebay. Search Ebay for C3/4 ER20 or for the seller cncmachinetool. He only has the non-ATC holders on Ebay, but sells the ATC version for a couple bucks more...

    Re: PM-25MV vs G0704

The G0704 allows for the Y-axis travel extension whereas the PM's column to base design does not allow this. The stock y-axis travel is limiting especially as your skills advance.

    Re: Mist Collector Options

Simply use a low cost 1 phase in / 3 phase out VFD to drive Royal's 3-phase motor. Depending on the motor power this could be as low as $100-200.

    Re: 2” facemill recomendations
