A longer lens would definitely help. I use a 63mm for 1/4". I would try a 100mm. Not sure that would be enough. The 100mm lens will not make the laser stronger. Just give you a longer focal length....

Quite honestly, 150w seems a little light for 3/4" Plywood. What is the focal length of the lens that you are using?

Make sure you get one with a Reci Tube.

I would check to be certain all your electrical connections are tight. Also, get a volt meter on the power supply and see what voltage reading you are getting.

First I would only buy a laser with a Reci Tube. Of course that is if your laser will be an 80 watt or larger. With an expected life of 10,000 hours, there is no need for a back up tube with Reci.

The old desicant is only good if it is not contaminated with oil.

I agree with Rodney.

You will be surpised how many other things you may want to do with the laser. Get as much wattage as you can afford.

Make sure you do understand the part about not looking at the beam when it is in use. Second, you will have to remove the smoke that will be generated.

I think this project as a laser is just too...

Stay away from exterior type plywoods. The glues make it very difficult. Baltic Birch is one of the best for cutting by laser

I cut it all the time. Speed is 9 and power is 90% with an 80 watt laser. Edges will be black and sooty.

I bought mine almost two years ago and it has been great.

I let G Weike handle all the shipping arangements and this was included in their quote to me. Shipped right to my home.

MDF, that may be your problem and not the tube. Mdf can vary greatly in its makeup and the lasers ability to cut it.

Not sure this will help. but make sure whatever you are engraving is enclosed. In other words, you should be able to engrave the inside area a circle, but you can not engrave a line.

Check the cone on the bottom of the lens holder. Mine did not always fit properly, which caused the same problem you are having.

"triply", I assume that is what we call plywood. If you stay with an interior grade like Baltic birch, you will have less burn versus MDF.

I would also suggest you post the focal length of the lens you are using also. This might be the cause of the "V" cut you are getting.
