it actually turned out to be a bad driver. i did switch drivers at the beginning but i only switched the ribbon duh ;( i should have switched that bottom green connector too. i wired in a new...

Good point! I am using koolrite 2290

Putting together the tray on a torus pro which obviously will need to be sealed with some type of rubber silicon before tightening the bolts. What brand and model will stand up to coolant best?...
Did you figure out the issue with the gsk controller? I am thinking about getting the same controller for my bolton lathe. How has it worked out?
i am thinking of getting a Bridgeport Series II CNC milling machine which is currently running with a 286pc serial cable and bobcad cam produced files via a floppy. still under power but has not...
some good ideas....it was minus 5 deg this morning which is crazy and i dont ever recall such a cold spurt up here in NH. i turned on the pellet stove at 7am this morning and it took a few hours to...
It’s been really cold ( 0deg-10deg f) these past few weeks and it’s not going to change anytime soon. I typically start up my pellet stove in the morning letting it run for an hour before using my...
It’s obvious something for the school to be able to say they offer even though it’s accomplishing little to nothing. What cam? Are you actually trying to make a part? Teach them how to drill a...
Is your z all the way to the top? Inside pathpilot settings you can disable limit switch so you can move the z off the limit switch. Then reenable it again.
If you look inside the cabinet do you...
Some really good advice above here is my must have items to start out:
I would not get any starter kits for tooling I would however get Tormach brand items since the quality is great and...
Keep at it bob. The 440 is a new product and still has kinks and QA issues. Tormach will not leave you dry and has incredible support in addition to the fantastic community of support here on the...
Can you see the reference switch depressed? On an 1100 the reference switch is screwed to the casting and it’s a slotted hole so you can physically adjust the switch and tighten it down.

You can download the pc app for Mach off the Tormach site and try it in your laptop to verify the height gauge is working. Once you know the gauge is good in pp you go to the offset page plug it...
I agree this is inline with what I was thinking and makes sense to me. Even if it runs for 2 days the plastic cost next to nothing compared to making a mistake in metal.
Some of the ideas and...
I heard possibly pathpilot 4 probing for tool breakage. Any truth behind it? When Pathpilot supports it I will pull the trigger on an atc. The only thing that would push me over the edge in...
Is anybody doing this often?
How is the benefit paying off for you?
What scenarios work better then others?
Any tips?
What I had in mind for sheet metal was putting a piece on each side of the mill base where they bolt to the stand there is a 1/2in gap. The chips are making there way in there and building up. The...
I was really surprised with the amount of chips piled up under my y-axis billows. I bet in the back area some spots reached 4” high! I do use my mill daily and filled up a few garbage cans with...
I guess it comes down to if you mill a 1” boss and measure all around the dia is it close enough for what you do? With that said I agree with your comment bearings might be wise and they are not...
what i ended up replacing was the double bearing set for the preload on the y-axis $40 for the set tormach # 30430 and the complete y-axis ball screw with nut $525 tormach # 30448. you can not just...
Step 6 above might not be clear but the ball screw nut is still attached to the ball screw. At no time can you remove the ball nut from the ball screw or it will destroy the unit and you will end...
.026 loss of motion before now less then .0005
it apparently has been going for sometime and giving it a good bump did it in. i use to always have to play with my cam and cad to get stuff good...
hey guys
i wanted to post an update in that i am up and running. my mill is running the best it ever has after replacing the y-axis ball screw with nut it is stunning how well it now mills...
I measured loss of motion using an indicator in the spindle and on the table. Everything is pointing to a bad ball screw nut so I ordered one I will post my findings.

Interesting on that sprutcam setting I will check in 10. I don’t believe I saw a smooth by arcs setting I will check.

You can see the line and feel it on the side of the milled boss
