Re: Is there a hobby waterjet like a Wazer?

Good luck drying it out and separating it from the tiny material "chips". And the garnet that does hit the material has the sharp corners worn.

For 20-25 cents a pound I'm using fresh garnet.

Re: Is there a hobby waterjet like a Wazer?

Don't buy the garnet from them. It should be in the $0.17-0.35/lb. range if you buy enough. Enough may be half a metric ton however...

  4. Re: Spacing between parts for waterjet cutting

I usually use 0.1", but depends on the parts/material thickness

  5. Re: Wood cutting with water jet - how much pressure needed?

If you have a lot, I would do some testing. Generally speaking, a larger orifice should let you cut a little faster, as should more pressure.

If you're trying to use less pressure, I would start...

What sort of cut quality? With or without abrasive? What kind of wood?

Not enough information to give a useful answer.

Re: how to convert file to work on flow

I typically pull the file through rhino and export with the "CAM Imperial" template

Re: Need waterjet in North Alabama area.

Definitely do-able. I have no problem doing some file cleanup for the Flow software (you should see the public art piece I'm working on - files with 30-60k entities...).

    Do you mind filling out...

How many pieces, how large, how heavy is the material? Could cut for you in PA and Mail if it's not heavy.

    Re: Roland mdx 40A?

The 540 is not stiff enough to cut steel.

  12. Re: add flatten surface command in solid works 2012

You can't. Try rhino's unroll surface command after importing and exploding your solid.

  13. Re: Looking for a good effective way to remove garnet!

I was under the impression that using the abrasive once knocks off the majority of the sharp corners, meaning it can't generally be reused - is that just said to sell more garnet?
  14. Re: Looking for a good effective way to remove garnet!

Well, let me know if you end up finding a better solution. I would see if you can shop around and maybe find a cheaper vendor with a pump truck.
  15. Re: Looking for a good effective way to remove garnet!

Where are you located? We've only had our tank pumped once, but we paid $1,400, and the three guys seemed to be pros - they say they do a few companies' water jets.

In terms of drops, they had a...

    Blue Way Lube

The lube system in our flow water jet uses a bright blue Mobil lube - not sure if it's suitable as way oil or not.

Edit: Just looked it up - Mobile XHP-005 NLGI00

  18. Re: Using diameter instead of radius? + Multiple instances of the program?

Do you mean when you're doing a revolve feature? Use a center line to produce a doubled dimension.

I can open multiple instances with no problems. Which version are you using?

SSD's and HDD's are both sealed cases - the stuff will not be getting in there. SSD's offer great performance over HDD's, and have no moving parts, so they should survive a fall better. Most modern...
