    Re: Fadal 4525 questions

I have a 4020 with the coolant tank that goes under the left hand side of the machine, and extends out 18" form the side, it's got a large pump and Hydrosweep (not sure if it's 100gpm) but it pushes...

    Re: installing new resolvers alignment

Install the resolver, align the marks, do a cold start. Likely the marks will not align, so rotate the resolver until the marks align, same as Z axis

    Re: Cadkey 99

You don't need a disk. Copy the whole Cadkey99 directory onto the new Laptop.

Double click CKWIN.EXE. When the dialog box comes up asking to enter Cadkey serial number and Key code, click CANCEL....
  6. Re: 1996 4020ht - new to me, much maintenance required

There's somebody in Aus who rebuilds spindles, he goes by 'Machtool', maybe here, and certainly on other forums. He's mentioned Fadal spindles in the past, so I believe he's rebuilt them.
  7. Re: Fadal Mill Z stroke is too short so I can't reach the vice

Glad I was able to help!
  8. Re: Fadal Mill Z stroke is too short so I can't reach the vice

Is it possible you have a machine with extended Z, and for some reason it thinks it's a machine with standard Z height? You can check what it is in the parameters
  9. Re: New (to me) 1993 VMC40 Fadal with 88HS, circle interpolates ovals

It's easy to tell if your backlash adjustment is off, when interpolating a circle if there's a step at a the point when the X or Y axis leadscrew changes direction then the backlash comp is not...

Re: Need help with your Fadal?

I had a problem with a 4020, I talked to somebody at Fadalcnc asking for advice, I asked twice and gave contact details and was awaiting a call (twice), nobody ever called. And I have spent $'s with...

Re: Repaint and Reseal Fadal Enclosure

LOL, a word to the wise, sealing an RV is a much harder task then sealing a CNC. If a product seals an RV that has temp swings from 40f-110f then it's going to seal a cnc enclosure just fine.

Re: Repaint and Reseal Fadal Enclosure

Not on a machine, but on RV's, it stays pliable regardless of conditions. Plus as an adhesive it works very well, so it sticks and seals very well.

Apparently Sikaflex is what Haas uses (fwiw)

Re: Repaint and Reseal Fadal Enclosure

For sealing the machine SikaFlex construction sealant would probably be OK.

  15. Re: Fadal 3016 (2001) servo drive motor X axis

You have to be carefull removing the tachometer, if you seperate the magnets form the commutator I think you loose some of the magnets magnetism. That servo is a DC servo that indicates you have an...

Re: Help me quit burning my tools up!

I've found uncoated carbide works ok at 100sfm and .001ipt, and coated carbide works well at 200sfm and .001ipt in 304. The coated carbide endmills will outlast uncoated endmills, and are worth the...

There's plenty of decent levels on ebay, I picked up a Fowler 12" .0005"/10" for $58 couple of years ago.

    Re: Adjusting Fadal spindle preload

The bore of the Aluminum cylinder is 1.128", the o-ring is on the steel piston. The area of the bore is 1.0in2, so 1000# of force will read 1000# of pressure. The bar across the top goes across the...

    Re: Fadal 4525 spindle orientation.

Presumeably this only works with a motor with spindle encoder? I have a 91 that doesn't have an encoder on the spindle (no rigid tap)

(edit) has new belts as of 2 weeks ago

    Adjusting Fadal spindle preload

While doing some PM on the 4020 I decided to check the 10k spindle pre-load. per the fadal instructions it was .0035

  24. Re: T-Slot Extrusion strength 6063-T5 vs 6061-T6

Your bigger concern should be deflection rather than ultimate strength. Both 6063 and 6061 will have the same deflection under the same load for identical geometries.

    In the 8020 catalog there's...
