Thanks Joe! See you on the other side :)
I bought the plans tonight, I'm just curious how long it takes before I get access to the forums and what not? Can't wait to start reading more!
Edit: Ok looks like I needed to join the forums....
Yeah I saw that picture. Midway through next month I'm going to order your plans and possibly your kit as well. I just really like his build with it on top of that big cabinet, although I think I'd...
Hey Joe, does he have a build thread of this on your forum? Be nice as I'd like to take this approach to get the extra storage and what not on the bottom.
I don't have anything to measure the particles no but I also don't plan on using it in the current form. I'm building a small room behind my shop to house my air compressor and dust collector. The...
1.97 per foot isn't that horrible... I've seen much worse :) How many feet do you really need?
I have 2 Rigid shop vac's that I plan to get dust deputies for. But I also just purchased a 2hp Grizzly Cyclone dust collection system. It should do nicely for all my dust collection needs in my...
Sure doesn't look like that started out as a 4x4 Hybrid :)
I like the glass though.
With the 4x4 hybrid all you really need is a chopsaw, miter saw, table saw some sort of saw to cut down the 80/20 and a drill press. Could probably hand drill the holes but a drill press would make...
I wouldn't spend 3k on a wooden machine. I don't know that I'd make a 4x8 wooden machine personally. I know some have and love it with excellent results but I feel that at that size a metal machine...
Wow wish we had junk yards like that around here!
Let me know about their prices for the 4kW if you are inquiring and they eventually answer. Be interesting to know as those look very nice.
I'm wondering if anyones measured the power the spindles actually opperate at. They are really cheap so I don't expect crazy nice numbers but just curious mostly. Like if the 4kW unit is actually...
Yeah that's what I was referring to is that between building a complete 4x4 and the Pilot Pro kit you'd spend about the same or less on the 4x4. I think It's been said you can build a standard 4x4...
Anyone have any experience with the higher powered Chinese spindles? Like the 4kW spindle? I'm thinking of getting it to use with Joe's 4x4 Hybrid.
Well the Pilot Pro doesn't appear to be anywhere near 4x4. And if you intend to purchase the kit you can build a 4x4 Joe's for quite a bit less then the Pilot Pro kit. You could probably build a 4x8...
Yeah, the Mitersaw isn't really the issue. I'm just not sure who makes a good floor mount drill press.
Oh, I'm also looking to brush aluminum so I'm looking for a horizontal belt sander. I was looking at this unit from Shop Fox because it can go horizontal and lay flat.
...
I'll look into those. The Dewalt sliding miters look pretty nice too. I plan on getting a set of non Ferros Freud blades to use when I do aluminum work. I will be cutting up some 80/20 so it's good...
I'm looking for a few tools. I've got a Shop Fox W1677 cabinet saw currently. Other then that I'm looking for some more tools. I want to get a radial arm/miter saw, also looking for a drill press and...
I've been going back and forth on what I want to build for my first machine haha. It kind of depends on the living situation at the time. If I get my own place (house) by then I may do a nice steel...
Build looks fantastic so far!
Nice to hear that Joe is going to try it out! I'm so unsure of what direction I want to go with my router when I build it here. I know I'd like R&P though hah.
Wow, that's looking fantastic! Would love to know why kind of tolerances you get with this machine as I was just thinking about how good a steel framed machine would be with an aluminum gantry.
When I get to building a machine out of steel I may be looking at a n34 R&P setup. My first machine will be 8020 though.
Yeah I was just saying I'm sure it would be easy to adapt it to other bearing designs. Really all you have is a pivot point and then a place for the spring to attach. It should be pretty universal...
I believe the new r&p kit from Cncrouterparts.com should easily fit the 4x4 design. It's what I'm considering doing.
I believe they said no nema 34 for the time being unless there is a large demand for them.
Hmm....I've been wondering how I can do a CNC Lathe...this gives me many ideas.
