  1. Re: Citizens vs Star Service and Support in Michigan and other concerns

jreynolds, with your company being new to CNC Swiss-type, I would ask (more like demand) for a lot of training. Have them throw in 200 hours of on-site training deliverable within a 12 month period....

    Re: CNC CINCOM B12-Calibration

ENG-CJPC, contact Citizen, they should have a procedure for this. It should be relatively easy.

    1. Put dial indicator in sub
    2. Jog to guide bushing (without a guide bushing)
    3. Indicate along...

  4. Re: Citizens vs Star Service and Support in Michigan and other concerns

Gizmo, I don't think the Citizens have a convertible guide bushing/chucker option. So, you may be thinking of something else to change over when thinking it may take 1-2 hours.

    For the Nomura,...
  5. Re: Anyone know of a Dos based program for programming CNC swiss lathes??

Are you looking just for a text editor with a DNC or software to make the program for you? And, what year & control on your Star's?
  6. Re: Citizens vs Star Service and Support in Michigan and other concerns

Just for the sake of due diligence ( and to keep the Citizen dealer honest) I would get a quote for the Nomura 32XB and compare.

The only thing you lose when going from 32 to 20mm is Main/sub...
  7. Re: Citizens vs Star Service and Support in Michigan and other concerns

jreynolds, If you're looking for true flexibility in set-up & program development, the best choice is going to be Nomura with the Mitsubishi M70 control. You can start mid-program with the Nomura's....

  9. Re: How to correctly adjust tool geometry on Star SR20-RII?

I used to write a "centering" program. Something like this:

    (close collet)
T0101(USUALLY AS A "JUST IN CASE" I LIKE TO CLEAR THE OFFSET BY CALLING UP A TOOL THAT I AM NOT CENTERING)
    G0T0
    M3...

Re: Iemca genius bar loader jamming

On the Genius, when you're cranking the handle to open the channel, the flag/pusher needs to be a little bit forward of it's furthest back position. When you're opening the channel, either manually...

Hey Ben, I would be very curious to see if that's possible. My experience has been that as soon as you hit the reset button, to get into EDIT mode, you're always forced to the beginning of the...

  16. Re: Star SR32 - How to set up part length and safety distance?

It may be in the offset page.

    Hard key: offset
    Soft key: right
    Soft key: WK. SHFT

I think that's where its at but, it's been a couple years since I've been in front of one of those.
  17. Re: Star SR32 - How to set up part length and safety distance?

Go into the Workshift for Z axis. Then set a negative number. OAL+ Max tool geometry + safety. And put that value in the z axis workshift as a negative number. Then your Z0 will be positioned...

    Re: programming citizen versus tsugami

Re: Facing question and wp length problems

I'm surprised the Applitec tool is causing problems. I've used Applitec for nearly 15 years and have always had good success.

In this occasion, is that cut-off tool a re-ground tool?

Most Swiss CNC programming are very similar. It just the interface that is different. I know the Mitsubishi control on the Nomura's allow for live editing while the Fanuc control forces you to...
