  1. Re: Looking for any info on Dynatorch XLR8 systems

I would presume that you have this all sorted by now.
    FWIW
You will want a newer Intel I series and windows 10.
Mine was put in service in 2012 and has treated is very well.
    I believe they had...

In reality the level doesn't need calibrated because you always do a 180 check.

    Re: STL to CAD files

like Gerry said an STL file is not really a solid. it is made from triangles, it is machinable but won't be smooth
  4. Re: Which Fadal? 4020 1992 with 4th Axis or 4020 1998?

the 92 will be a DC machine which is super easy for repairs, but it may a pathetic control, we have been fine with our -4 after upgrading to max memory (422kb) and a Calmotion..You would likely want...

Re: Are there any Canadian owners here?

One of the most common issues with imported (not Canadian compliant) machines is the E-stop circuit.

Re: Fadal will not power on

The 1st 2 things I would check is the PC type power supply (the fan seizes and they burn out) and pull all the control boards (the slot connectors can get corrosion and not be contacting).

We have repaired by milling out a pocket, then machining a matching insert off of a new piece of rack then screwing in place

    Re: 5x10 plasma table purchase

If there is something new for that price, you will hate it.
My table was 30 US and still required some minor engineering changes + 4k for the Hypertherm yet. A proper ventilation system will run you...

    Re: Fadal bad arc finish

    it could be the program.
Maybe your other controls have built in "short segment smoothing".
  13. Re: Backlash from servo coupling? What should i do?

Thrust bearings are a common replacement part on the Y, especially if you have the cool power ballscrews (which I bypassed to avoid this)

Re: Finding REAL tradesmen and talant

It is almost a dead trade.

  17. Re: HI and Low Piston Spindle Activated at the same time

Last time that happened here it was because the oil got low in the air-over-oil reservoir.

    Re: Dynatorch XLS 5' x 10'

You will need your vector files to be in DXF format then you can use the Dynatorch software to convert it into Gcode.
Speeds, feeds and cut data should be available from the plasma manufacturer (my...
  19. Re: Problem making paths in Freemill (Visual Mill)

You could very easily edit the gcode to turn the profile moves into a sub-routine with the main body being the machine setup codes and your Z moves

Re: RS232 and set up issues

    NCFadal was absolutely bullet proof.
Maybe the cable is too long for the power of your serial port on the PC
Chassis grounding of the net cable is also important

  28. Re: New to this, is this what its supposed to look like?

    Too much heat.
Set up at the lowest amperage that will do the cut for best results
    cut 1/4 MS at 45amp
The machine never gets up to speed at high amp and you are burning the crap out of it
  29. Re: New to this, is this what its supposed to look like?

Yes because you were piercing that thick plate and it blew back into the shield (likely just the shield will have clogged air holes)

I am sorry, if you are using the chart 1.4inch steel is...
  30. Re: New to this, is this what its supposed to look like?

Hypertherm will tell you that you don't cut 1.4 on 85 amp.
Not supposed to cut that until you get into 125 amp.
I cut 1.25 plate very nice with my 105amp unit but I always edge start (pre-drill...
