    Re: sub freezing weather question

One member of this forum built a DIY wood structure machine with a water cooled spindle but ran it dry. I believe he ran compressed air through the water jacket and he didnt have any problems. I...

    Re: sub freezing weather question

I used an antifreeze solution just like a car uses in my water cooled spindle and it survived several sub freezing winter months in an unheated pole barn. That being said, water cooling was more...

    Re: 1500 x 1000 CNC Router, 1st CNC build

I like the steel web on the face of the gantry.
  4. Re: Last One - 4'x6' Steel, Epoxy and ClearPath servo's

Reviving an old thread with an update. I have sold this machine to a friend I work with. He's got big plans and this machine will be integral to them. I would never sell something to a friend that...
  5. Re: 4x8, steel frame, 2.2 kw spindle, clearpath, UC-300Eth build

Looks really smooth and responsive. And quiet!
  6. Re: Custom Spindle (Custom Motor!), Very Gradual Progress Planned

Following just to learn. I really cant contribute much to this discussion but I'm interested in what you come up with.
I built a 3 axis router that used a 2.2KW, 24K RPM spindle. The machine...

Re: Big Bamboo - New Machine Project Started

You make some incredible stuff Jerry! I'm really intrigued by the kinetic art table.
  8. Re: 4x8, steel frame, 2.2 kw spindle, clearpath, UC-300Eth build

Good to hear! Did you figure out your homing/hardstop settings yet on your CP's?
  9. Re: 4x8, steel frame, 2.2 kw spindle, clearpath, UC-300Eth build

Its been awhile since I thought about it but I used the same components to build my machine: CP servo's and UC300ETH/UB1. I landed my HLFB inputs individually on the E-stop inputs on the UB1. ...
  10. Re: Hello, May anyone Enlightens me with his knowledge

Pics didnt come through very well. Its going to be hard to get good feedback from what you posted.

    Re: Overwhelmed: control box electronics

I bought a mini PC similar to your specs and it runs the machine just fine. But thats all it will run. I tried loading Fusion360 onto it as I wanted to have my design program near my machine in...

    Re: Overwhelmed: control box electronics

I used a UC300ETH with a UB1. Very good board, industrial quality. I have a diagram that I worked with another member on that shows the connections for the UB1 and ClearPath Servo's, standard home...

Re: Rebuilding my 5x10 CNC Router

That's a BIG machine! Post some pics of the machining and stress relieving when you have it done.
  14. Re: PMDX-126 and Clearpath - Drive signals are too low voltage.

No, you'd be fine. I used the UB1 and ClearPath's on mine and I've had no problem. You just can't wire them in differential mode. I have a wiring diagram for the UB1 and CP' s that I can send you if...
  15. Re: PMDX-126 and Clearpath - Drive signals are too low voltage.

If you reconsider your board, I've had good results with CP servo's and a UB1 BoB from cncroom.com. Regardless, it sounds like you have it wired up right and I hope you get it sorted.
  16. Re: PMDX-126 and Clearpath - Drive signals are too low voltage.

The CP servos need more than 5v to work when wired up for a "differrential" signal. Sounds like the PMDX board differential signal is referenced to 5v. See the engineers note on the bottom of page...
  17. Re: PMDX-126 and Clearpath - Drive signals are too low voltage.

How do you have the servo's connected to the PMDX-126?

Re: Granite and steel gantry router

Nice work. Where did you get your granite slab?
  19. Re: My machine starting messing up cuts out of the blue...help!

Yeah that's why I suggested you look at your acceleration settings. I'm guessing but that move is probably a rapids move?? And that is where your acceleration settings would come into play. It can't...
  20. Re: My machine starting messing up cuts out of the blue...help!

Usually those types of problems are because you're losing steps at some point. It could be caused a mechanical component that's loosened up like Awerby suggested. Maybe a bind on your bearings? ...
  21. Re: Lessons in overkill! Welded steel, fixed gantry router

I filled my base frame with sand to add mass and help with vibration dampening.

I filled my gantry tube with 2 part foam trying to dampen resonance. Sand would have worked better but I didn't...

    Re: New machine, any suggestions?!

I think, over on the UK CNC forum there are a lot of designs similar to what you have posted. The Fine Line Automation, Saturn machines use a no-riser design.

    Re: 4x9 CNC Wood/Steel/Extrusion build

Looks really good! Here is the wiring diagram for the ClearPath's and the UB1. The way the safety circuit is shown should work how you've described your desired operation. Your VFD control will be...

    Re: 4x9 CNC Wood/Steel/Extrusion build

That's a great looking base! I admire guys who can work with wood like that. I see you're using UB1-UC300 and CP servo's. I have a wiring diagram that I worked up with another member for that...

Re: Side mounting methods for linear rail?

Some epoxy shrinks noticeably as it cures. There are lots of different epoxies each with different properties. I used steel casting epoxy with black pigment to pour a level surface for my router. ...

Re: DIY Vacuum Pump for 4x6 vacuum bed

Time for an update. I've had it operational for about a month now. I got some 3/4 MDF and surfaced about ~.020" off each side, then I sealed around all the edges with epoxy and this is now my...
  29. Re: Last One - 4'x6' Steel, Epoxy and ClearPath servo's

I found the model online, can't take credit for it. I used Estlcam to generate the Gcode. Estlcam does really good with DXF files like this but is sorely lacking for 3D/STL files. I've been toying...
  30. Re: Last One - 4'x6' Steel, Epoxy and ClearPath servo's

Didn't turn out too bad. Got a few toolpaths to fix. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180501/7cc99e143f876ec6c87779ad8cc7b67e.jpg
