  1. Re: hole drilling with a high-speed (low-torque) 3-axis CNC router?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge guys. I think you're right that the best way forward is to spiral mill the holes & work on deep pocket chip removal.
  2. hole drilling with a high-speed (low-torque) 3-axis CNC router?

I need to drill 7/16" diameter x 2" deep holes in 6061-T6 aluminum. Making 50+ parts, 9 holes each. Problem is my cnc router doesn't have low-rpm torque. How do people with high-speed spindles...
  3. Re: How do I add a 10 seconds delay after starting the spindle

Sorry to resurrect an old sleeping thread but I can't find anything on how to implement this 'wait for spindle up to speed' feature.

Is this a Mach3 feature I haven't run across yet?

    Or after...
  4. Re: Folin/Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD new spindle calibration

    Apologies for the delay.

Regarding, power requirements. To clarify: This is a 5.5KW VFD driving a supposedly 3.2KW spindle motor, although spindle markings indicate the original was 8A and the...

Re: Probe input & ground (??)

[Quick update, after some experimentation I've found that a 2k pull-up resistor seems to be a good value to use. It pulls about 5mA open-circuit and about 12mA when the probe touches. This appears...

Re: Probe input & ground (??)

    Thanks!

One thing I should've mentioned is that I've had electrical noise issues with this machine, especially on the probe line since it floats. This has been creating false probe touch events...

    Probe input & ground (??)

I don't understand how to hook up the probe circuit.
My understanding is that the power supply neutral (24V0) is supposed to be isolated from machine ground. Is this correct?
If so, how do I wire...
  8. Re: Folin/Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD new spindle calibration

    This is 1-phase 220-240VAC power into the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD that's rated for 5.5KW. There's a 30A+30A breaker at the mains, ~60' 10-Gauge cable to a NXBLE-32 32A breaker on the machine.
    ...
  9. Re: Folin/Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD new spindle calibration

That's a good idea but no the motor is clearly labeled 220V. Specifically, the old spindle is labeled:

    HONG YANG
NYM110-24Z/3.2 *note: this spindle is marked as NYM110 but careful measurement...
  10. Re: Folin/Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD new spindle calibration

Ok, I'm beginning to understand the situation better. It appears that the Alibaba spindle vendor, who is supposedly the manufacturer, shipped me a mis-labeled sub-par replacement. And over-billed...
  11. Re: Folin/Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD new spindle calibration

I received a further clarification from fuling:

    Dear XXXXX,
Regarding your first question, I want to answer you, our DZB series use open loop V-F control, you only need to set the motor...
  12. Re: Folin/Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD new spindle calibration

Thanks for the reply @mactec54. Actually I reached out to Folinn (aka Fuling) and they had a rather odd response. Unfortunately the answer isn't as clear as we'd like. So now I'm even more confused...
  13. Re: Folin/Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD new spindle calibration

F1.01 thru F1.05 are correctly set. Is there a parameter I'm missing??
  14. Folin/Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD new spindle calibration

I've been having various problems my Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK VFD after replacing the spindle. Symptoms include reduced performance (bogging at moderate loads), over-voltage alarms on stop braking. ...

    How to detect VFD faults

After suffering a bad manufacturer-configuration related crash, I decided to basically re-engineer the machine after discovering too many problems everywhere I looked.

For alarms I decided to go...
  16. Servo/stepper alarms in general, specifically AXBB-E to Delta ASDA-B2 servos?

I'm trying to understand how to properly connect a CNCdrive AXBB-E controller to Delta ASDA-B2 servo drivers.

    Background:
    1. This machine (AlphaCNC AMN-6040-M) came pre-configured with an XHC...
  17. Re: Braking Resistor for the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK

Hi LVz, Thanks for the suggestions! I had to back-burner this due to time issues but will look closely at your parameter suggestions ASAP.

@mactec54, apologies for the lack of reply; I had...
  18. Re: Braking Resistor for the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK

Thanks for the attempts to help, guys. However it's still unclear to me how to proceed.

@mactec54, you're saying to connect the braking resistor to the DC+ & DC- terminals, correct? I'm...
  19. Re: Braking Resistor for the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK

Thanks for taking a look, mactec54.

On one hand, it seems you're right - this is what the manual seems to indicate in some places. Considering where it's from, in some ways the Fuling DZB series...
  20. Re: Braking Resistor for the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK

The VFD is a FULING INVERTER DZB Series DZB312B005.5L2DK. The Braking Resistor is connected to DC+ and BR-. Powered-off, resistance at the DC+ BR- terminals on the VFD with the braking resistor...
  21. Re: Braking Resistor for the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK

Thanks for responding, mactec54. You clearly know far more than I do about the electronics side of things. Probably all sides since I'm pretty new to the realm.
  22. Re: Braking Resistor for the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK

    Happy to oblige :)

Anything I can do to assist, just ask.

I just ran thru and wrote down all the VFD settings and am transcribing that to a file. If that might help I'm happy to upload that...
  23. Re: Braking Resistor for the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK

Quick update on voltage readings. Think it's DC after all. Reading 0.00VDC across brake resistor while running and braking.
  24. Re: Braking Resistor for the Fuling DZB312B005.5L2DK

    Hi DMoore,

Thanks for posting about this. I have the exact same VFD and am attempting this breaking resistor install.

But I'm having a problem - it's having no effect. Apologies for...
  25. Re: Spindle rotor (& tool holder) not grounded (???)

This is residential, so 220V 1-phase, wired direct to service breaker box via over-spec wire, don't recall exact gauge at the moment. Two breakers, one at service box & one on machine.

    Since it's...
  26. Re: Spindle rotor (& tool holder) not grounded (???)

    Thanks for offering to help!

The VDF is a FULING INVERTER DZB300 series. Specifically, markings are "DZB312B005.5L2DK". The inverter drives a 3.2 KW spindle motor. If you can, can you pass...
  27. Re: Spindle rotor (& tool holder) not grounded (???)

Fair & well said. I agree with your assessment, this is why I chose the machine. It could do what I needed at a cost I could afford.

I'm going to do a mini-brain dump here, hope you don't mind....
  28. Re: Spindle rotor (& tool holder) not grounded (???)

Thanks again for the feedback. Maybe I'm getting over-concerned about the bearing noises? Being a n00b sucks, so much to learn, so many mistakes to make.

And yeah, sorry for the confusing...

G28.1 vs. REF ALL HOME button

I'm new to g-code, so apologies in advance if this is a dumb question:

I'm trying to improve my machine warmup program. Currently it just ramps up & down the spindle a few times. I'd like to...
