    Hi,

I recently tried to log into alloyavenue.com/vb/forum.php and got a 403 error. I don't know how long the site has been down as I've not been active there for a long time. Does anyone know...

Mill/Turn lathe servo driven spindle drive?

    Hi All,

I very much like the concept of the SwissMak and I'm interested in making a slightly larger and more robust version of it.

My main concern is that I would like to use a large servo...
  4. Re: Rutex system uncontrollable after computer replacement.

    Thanks HCE,

After bypassing the motherboard and not seeing any improvement I thought I'd grab an old hard drive and install a Windows XP on it. Problem solved. It seems Rutex doesn't like Windows...
  5. Rutex system uncontrollable after computer replacement.

I recently replaced the computer which I had been using to control my 3 axis router which uses Rutex R2010 drives and an R2120 opt-isolated motherboard. Prior to replacing the computer...

Hi Comcli. Is this software still around anywhere? I can't find a web page where it can be downloaded. Do you know of any other CAM software for an application like this?
  7. Re: Taiwan Parfaite ISO20/ER16 tool holders Vs cheaper ebay holders

    Hi Stefan,

The only observation I've made is that the more expensive holders are typically balanced to a higher standard which should reduce the likelihood of poor surface finish where all other...

    Re: Ballscrew brand recommendation?

Actually in the 15 and 20 mm shaft the backlash is 15 microns which seems odd when you think about how a smaller component would most likely be more difficult to hold tolerance during manufacturing.

    Re: Ballscrew brand recommendation?

Edit, I found this table which puts the backlash at less than 0.015 mm which is at the high end of the C5 screws but equal to or better than any of the rolled ballscrews.I'm not sure why there's...

    Re: Ballscrew brand recommendation?

Yeah, that much backlash pretty much make the C5 rating irrelevant. Strange that you're paying much more in the states for the same ballscrew, it's usually the other way around with the Aussies...

I spotted these on the Misumi site.

For a C5 accuracy ballscrew that looks like very good value. My only concern is that it's not preloaded and I'm not sure what to make of that, it it...

    Ballscrew brand recommendation?

    Hi,

I'm looking at buying some ballscrews which may be 16-20 mm diameter and 5-10 mm pitch for a router I'm designing. I don't wan't to spend any more than I need to but at the same time I don't...

Is there any information on the drive mechanism which gives zero backlash? Is it spring loaded split gears which are zero backlash up to a certain force?

Re: Cutting a worm gear using a tap

No problem with thickness, the round shaft I'll be machining the gear from is 100 mm by 100 mm. When the gear is finished it will be bolted to an aluminium hub which will clamp to a round shaft so...
