I thought about that but is the time and effort worth the money? The offered to give the material to the pattern maker we use who actually made all these patterns but he didn't want to bother...

So any interest 'slowlearner'?
How much in weight or size of pieces? I probably have 1000 pounds, maybe more. Haven't pulled them all down off the racks. As for size pieces vary from small to a couple that are 8 inches by 12...
Does anyone know if there is any scrap value in pattern plank 1052 which is a dense urethane used for building patterns? The original cost of the material is quite high so figured there could be...
Just can't have any sharp corners in the program. I actuallly haven't had to machine anything in a couple years that made me deal with the issue.
Struck by lightning? Unlucky machine! No, my issue was never solved so I just work around it. Maybe the new machines are better but don't know. I would make sure to see a machine in action and look...
Thanks for the responses! I am running at 25% and it hasn't happened again (knock on wood). I will take off the encoder cover and see if I can clean the glass. Hopefully it is just a little dirty!!...
I have an alarm that says "z axis z ch missing". I can clear it out and run a couple more parts before it comes up again so it is an intermittent problem. The book says:
154 Y AXIS Z CH MISSING...
I had this happen as well. Believe that it is because the version of solidworks is newer than what Mastercam X can open. Try going to mastercam website and make sure you have installed all the...
For sure I am going to run any fix by my client before doing it. Just needed some options. The part is an aluminum heatsink housing and the press fitting is for some sort of coolant hose that comes...
Found this site about the aluminum welding rod and it looks pretty cool in the video.

Didn't see anything on the Bernzomatic website. Anyone know how to get this product...
Some great ideas. This is for some sort of pipe fitting insert so it must be a sealed press fit. Like the ideas of running the forming tap or an oversized reamer down the hole to push out some...
I have a few cast aluminum (A380) parts that have a reamed hole that is .315 in dia with a depth of half inch. The reamer cut a thousandth of an inch large so trying to come up with a way, if...
I was thinking of looking for an old swamp cooler. Maybe heat the liquid first then pump it thru the swamp cooler..........between the warmth and evaporation it might work pretty quick.
Hello, I was wondering how you dispose of your old coolant. Right now when my coolant just can't hang anymore I have it hauled away from a waste management service. I was thinking though that it is...
I will take a look at my drawbar but don't think that is the issue because the coining issue was happening on 5 different HAAS machines.........
Kojack-
I am curious to hear how your machine does with cutting pockets in aluminum with small dia endmills. Maybe HAAS has figured out their issues and make a machine that will cut right...
Nope, nothing was ever figured out. I have been able to program around it but is more of a pain in the you know what than it is worth. If I need a good surface finish I use one of my other...
what three parameters?
My HFO is Selway in the San Francisco Bay Area. Both the HAAS factory and my HFO played around with the accel/decel parameters on my machine. Remember that 5 machines have cut with the same results...
Right now setting 85 is at .020
My HFO sent someone out and we played around with different settings and that was one of them and it didn't seem to do much. At one point it the cutter wouldn't go...
Here is a piece of 3/4 inch aluminum using a 5/8 carbide endmill at 8000 RPM 80 IPM with a .005 depth of cut. The program had sharp corners in the pocket due to the way Mastercam creates the tool...
Big, the part with the worst coining marks was cut on a VM-3 at the factory. Isn't this a the same as a VF-3 but with different ball screws?
I already have the VF3SSYT machine in my shop and one...
Big Mak.....HAAS factory ran my part (the W) on a VF3YT, a VF3SSYT and VM3 and all showed the coining/dwell mark on sharp corners, the VM3 was the worst cut.
Geof- I will have to try something...
The issue has never been resolved. The solution from HAAS was to change out my ball screws on X and Y to the regular VF3 screws but after a test cut was taken of VF3 at the factory there was not...
No G61 in the program
I am pretty sure that I checked the screen when it was running the program for G61 and I didn't see it there.
I am looking at a part I cut with a 5/8 endmill and there are some "coining" marks in areas where there is a move in x y so to answer your question Kool Parts, yes....I see this issue on all parts...
Ok, here is where I am at now. A factory tech from Haas tried cutting my part on a VF3SSYT at the factory and had the same results as both myself and my HFO. Here are the three cuts at 5000 RPM...
I just ran the cut rotated 90 degrees to see what happens. Cut looks identical...."coining" marks are in the exact same place.
