Sticky: Re: GE Fanuc & FANUC proprietary posts

I always wondered about that, if you payed for and owned the system, What ever is inside should be yours, I would think.

Especially if no agreement was ever signed?

Sticky: Re: GE Fanuc & FANUC proprietary posts

The whole issue that caused Fanuc to start clamping down, was some time ago, someone published and distributed on the net, most of the 'proprietary' settings that turned on added features that are...

    :)
  4. Re: Spindle grounding- manufacturer says to not ground

Perthitic ? New one on me! , is it as bad as Covid?
An AC induction motor does not produce any real voltage in the rotor shorted turns it is extremely small, there is a very high current flow...
  5. Re: How do I add a 10 seconds delay after starting the spindle

Although I have loaded Mach to test some things, I have not really used it so I don't know if it is capable of simulating all the G,M,S,T codes the same way a system where the motion is controlled...

  7. Re: Question, electrical noise interfering with stepper moter operations

What is the nature of the router motor?
Have you followed recommended earth grounding techniques, including bonding any moving mechanisms such as a moving gantry etc

Re: DC Servo for Mach3 spindle

There is also DynoMotion as a true closed loop CNC system.
    Reasonably priced contender also.
    See forum here.
  9. Re: Slow variation of spindle RPM under Mach3 control

What PWM freq. rate are you using?
Does it vary much according to the 'scope trace?

    Re: Fanuc Controller

Your best or only hope is to find someone with the same machine, the parameters are dependent on the OEM/MTB.

    Re: 3-wire toroidal transformer wiring

    Correct.
The reason I mentioned it is that if feeding any 120v devices or outlets, this should be considered the neutral conductor or terminal.

    Re: 3-wire toroidal transformer wiring

If you have it connected across NA 240 and use one end to the 120v CT point measure from here to GND to see how much it is above 'zero' .
  13. Re: Electronics distribution best practices? (3--> 5 axis)

I have my share of electrical enclosures over a period of time, and generally the rule is to place heat producing items at the top of the enclosure, along with respective fusing.
    Set up a decent...

If the outlet is 100% OK then it would seem your PC case and PS common is not earth grounded?

Re: Electric Shocks through the USB plug

What are you referring to as 'Common' ?

In N.A. you have a live, neutral and earth GND, the N & GND are referenced to each other (made common) in the service panel.
The earth GND is connected to...

Re: Brushed DC spindle motor power supply

OK I was under the impression the unit came with the relays.
As to PS, I have always used either linear style or direct off the mains, as is done with the typical 3Hp TM versions, they use fairly...

    Re: Spindle motor wiring diagram

IOW, The method of using either the U2 V2 W2 or U1 V1 W1 for the straps will be identical electrically.
  20. Re: Spindle grounding- manufacturer says to not ground

If the OP is in NA, the practice of a RCD at the main supply is rare, generally individual RCD or GFI is carried out locally at the socket or final power location.
So very likely that the VFD is not...
  21. Re: Spindle grounding- manufacturer says to not ground

One other error by omission is in the case of a motor that is mounted on a gantry together with other electronic devices etc, It is imperative to earth ground the moving gantry as well as the GND to...
  22. Re: Spindle grounding- manufacturer says to not ground

Bonding all frame points to an earth ground prevents ground loops, It is also known as equi-potential bonding.
You should have a service earth GND to the VFD, this then continues on to the spindle...

    Re: Shielded wire shield connection?

You should have a star point earth GND set up in your enclosure, all grounds including the service earth should be connected to this point.
  24. Re: Spindle grounding- manufacturer says to not ground

    Quite common to find that.
Just to bring a sense of reason, the gantry, mill head etc that is installed on the machine should have an earth ground/bonding conductor to it.
    So the frame of the...
  25. Re: Spindle grounding- manufacturer says to not ground

I can't quite understand the statement that the spindle will be damaged, I would be interested in seeing the logic behind the instruction.
  26. Re: Spindle grounding- manufacturer says to not ground

Sounds like a load of guff to me, the spindle frame should be earth grounded for operation as well as per NFPA70. (N.A. & EU).
The Chines are notorious for bad/non-grounding of machinery.
    Do you...

Re: Electric Shocks through the USB plug

    Is the computer earth grounded?
The DC common is usually earth grounded via the mother board securing screws to the case.

Re: Ebay 3 phase motor find

N.A. has not been 110/220 since then end of WW11!
Now 120/240v is fairly standard all over.
240v/480v star/delta motors are common here.

Other opinions and experience may differ!
From my experience with Chinese 1ph motors, if the 3ph are similar, I would be wary.

That is a 2pole 2800rpm 50Hz motor, 3000rpm rated, hopefully the bearings will stand up at 6000rpm.!
