The release notes for madCAM 7 SR 6 2021-09-16 (16-September-2021) list the following new feature:
"Enhanced Features:
New dropdown list in the post processor dialog for selecting and...
It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure that this is due to the toolpath being somewhere MadCAM isn't looking for it. MadCAM Options has a Tool Library location in the Machine tab. Also there is a...
Follow up: This still happens. Also, the view description is incorrect when this happens. Even though the actual view changes from, for example, "Right" to "Perspective", the view description...
If I make a group of the toolpaths in a part, they don't simulate until they are ungrouped. I don't know if this is expected behavior or not.
In 7.0.2021.308, clicking Select toolpath to recalculate doesn't have any effect. Although the command _MC_ReCaluculate appears in the Rhino command line, it doesn't ask to select a toolpath.
In the cutter dialog, in Speed/Settings, there is a box for Cut-link distance. It sounds like this is related to your issue and if you increase it, maybe that will help.
The madCAM help says:...
In a much simpler drawing, it looks like the simulator does remember the voxel size, but not in the drawing I care about.
In v 7.0.2021.308:
Recalculating toolpath results in error "Add toolpath to Rhino failed!"
Appears fixed in 2021-03-08 release. Thank you!
Appears fixed in 2021-03-08 release. Thank you!
Still would be nice to have the simulator remember the previous voxel size.
In V7, recalculating a drill tool path causes it to vanish
In madCAM 7, I'm generating some drill paths. When I try to simulate them, I get a dialog saying "This tool path appears to be damaged". Why would this be?
It's been quite a while since I've seen a reply here from anyone affiliated with madCAM. I don't know whether to keep asking for help here or if there is some other forum that is more lively. Or if...
In V7, in the simulator, holes are not drilled unless they are the last operation
In v7, in the simulator, if the voxel size is changed and OK clicked, the voxel size is unchanged. If the dialog is reopened and OK is clicked again, the voxel size is updated.
It would also be...
I am profiling a curve but the rapid height is way too high and doesn't correspond to my SafeClearance setting. Is there something else I should check? The clearance heights for other operations...
Fixed: An old tool path was causing the error.
I can't figure out how to fix this. All of these are what I would expect: Default machine is in the machine library and selected in the Machine tab, Tool library looks right in the Machine tab, the...
In MadCAM 6 and 7 current version, if a toolpath in one of the non-perspective windows is Recalculated, the view is changed to Perspective and must then be changed back by the user.
Would it help to increase the cut-link distance of the tool?
Thanks, but I am using "Along Curves" so the side shouldn't matter. I am seeing a problem with the depth of cut - I see the same issue when I test with a circle. The curve path is treated as the...
I am following a 2D curve and the tool path location is at the cutter center instead of the tip even though the Cutter Tip option is shown in 2D Options. Also changing the Depth option seems to have...
When I make a toolpath with a ball end cutter, the toolpath is drawn at a height above the model which is the radius of the cutter. The toolpath with a flat end cutter is what I would expect - it is...
1. The area covered by planar re-machining changes depending on which direction is chosen. I don't understand why the region that is re-machined should depend on the cutter direction during the...
I am using the post processor template TAIG_Mach3_4-axis.txt and it has a dot after the "feed". The file is from 2010. If that isn't an original madCAM template, it is possible I modified it, but I...
The Mach3 post processor appends a decimal point to the feed rate. When the feed rate has digits after the decimal, this is something which Mach3/4 doesn't like.
So if a tool has a feed rate of...
Now I realize I also don't understand what a traverse curve is and what makes it different from a cut or a rapid.
My basic problem is that I have no mental model for how this works. What I'd like is for cuts to be linked as much as possible while staying within a boundary curve. You're suggesting that I should...
I don't understand what I'm seeing then. In the attached, I have a region curve in red and cuts occur outside of it.450130
It looks like if the boundary curve is not convex, then cutting can occur outside of it. I think this must be what you mean by island curves? So maybe the cutting stays within the convex hull of the...
