I spent a couple of hours to find a working driver for my adapter. The following combination worked for me.

Looks interesting! Will your software also work in metric units?

I installed a chinese spindle which is heavier than the router before. When I press the E-stop button the Z-axis slowly goes down because the powerless Nema 23 motor is not able to hold it.
Is...
Interesting product!
Can you please specify what is needed on the hardware side (e.g. additional axis? I See there is a stepper motor included) and on the Software side (besides Mach3)?

I use DraftSight for my 2D drawings. There are a lot of excellent video tutorials on youtube.

On the site mentioned in the dropdown besides "Pinion Gear Pitch" there is an option for Module 1.5!

CNC Router Parts sells Module 1.5 for metric machines.

I emailed with Ahren and the motor is ok.
But I have another question:
I have cut a rectangle in mdf 50x50mm. The y-axis is within 5/100mm, but the x-axis is 3/10mm off (e.g. 49.7mm). Both is...
Worked perfect with the Dremel. After the cut the ends are melted a little bit together. Just tap the ends lightly with a hammer and everything is ok.
Cheers and thanks again!

Haha, I see you guys are very creative in finding a good solution :D
I think the key point is to clamp the brush between two pieces of wood/steel etc. I will try to cut it with a Dremel and a...
I bought a nylon strip brush to build some rail cleaners and for the dust boot. Now I would like to shorten the brush to the desired length... I tried different tools but the nylon seems to be really...
Finally the machine is moving and I am really stoked!

Thanks for the pics, very helpful!

Amazing build log, thanks! I hope there will be a lot of pictures from the z-axis assembly. I think this will be the most difficult part for me.

Thanks alan, I made my own rack clamps in the meantime.

Thanks Ahren! It's not so easy to get these here, but I have luckily found a supplier.
I am still drilling, tapping, drilling... But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel :-)

@ John: Thanks for the offer, I will consider this if I am in your region.
@ Martin: I do not build from a kit. I source all the big parts locally (steel, alu extrusion, racks) Therefore I saved a...
The swiss cncrp community is growing :-) Where are you from? I am in canton ZG and think Euro3D is from VD.

What type of screw thread is it on top of the linear carriage where the gantry riser is fastened?
UNC/UNF? What diameter? I have no idea about those american screw threads

I could not find drilled rails in Switzerland, but the idea posted before seems to work. The squarish part of the clamps has just to be sligthly smaller than the rail to get some force to clamp...
Just subscribed to your thread...

Good point, I have to search for drilled racks...
Thanks, Christoph

In the meantime a decided to realize my dream an build a cnc router. I am still planning and gathering all material.
I have no metal working skills only a drill press. Therefore I'll try to keep...
@ Chris: I have plenty of questions :-)
I just saw the two photos in your thread. The idea with the y-axis is clever. If I understand it right you mounted the rails with the right spacing...
Is there someone how has built a router with parts from cncrouterparts.com and metric extrusions/rails? Maybe there are some hints and tips...
I would love to share thoughts about a metric...
