    Re: My First CNC Build

My bad if I said strength I meant stiffness. While strength is important stiffness is king in CNCs.

I have heard people mention that wood is full of air especially when talking about particle...

    Re: My First CNC Build

Where you are looking sheer as well as torsional in wood I would go that way. But where I am looking for predominantly torsional like the frame or deck I would go box.

I learned a lot about frame...

    Re: My First CNC Build

Agree the last thing you want is the Y axis bending through a lack shear stiffness. But even that can still be pseudo boxed by creating an LVL(Laminated Veneer Lumber) with holes. You can get 4 plys...

    Hey Peter,

While increasing the thickness is one way to tackle the problem it is not necessarily the best way to tackle the problem. I did a quick demonstration for my wife the other day to...

    Re: My First CNC Build

Chris just some food for thought... the Z axis is only ever moving the Z axis, it generally is only moving the Z axis very small increments, unless it is doing a full retract and even then it is...

Unfortunately not too much seeing about it. That design is inherently weak to start with (very popular but weak by design). I wish you luck. Hope you have fun with it. A DIY CNC is a great buzz to...

I wish you would have read my post before you built it, it would have saved you a lot of heartache. Expect a lot of racking issues. This is all part of the CNC journey. Not the fun part, but a part...
  9. Re: Hi, Im gathering all equipments for a diy 4x8 cnc router, need some help

a 4' x 8' CNC is no toy, so you don't want to half do it. Everything starts and ends with the frame, as it will be the thing that limits you the most out of everything. Trying to think of an...

There are several things I would suggest you consider... Some tips and tricks I learned on my CNC journey.

Thanks guys. I am in the middle of building a new stand with another PC that supports 64 bit / Win7. So hopefully that sorts out the issues.

    UCCNC G-Code Line Limit?

Does anyone know if there is a line limit to UCCNC?
I tried doing some dynamic milling which produced a lot of lines of G-Code for a fairly simple operations, but when I tired to do a few simple...

    Re: UB-1 DC2DC-12V - YES vs UB-1 DC2DC-12V - NO

OK thanks. Only $5 more so might be worth getting it anyway. There are no better options on the market at the moment are there? Assuming this is still the best option for the UC300ETH.

    UB-1 DC2DC-12V - YES vs UB-1 DC2DC-12V - NO

Can someone please tell me what this $5 option does? Is it so the BOB can work off 12v? or does it provide 12v outputs?
I have only 36v PSUs and 12v PSUs but the UB-1 seems to want 24v.
