    Is this damper any good?

I'm asking because I've had severe problems with resonance and by putting some pieces of rubber between the steppers and the brackets I've had no more problems (no stall or rattle).

Re: Help me understand stepper maximum speeds

Hello awerby, after some tests I could get to run at 3m/min reliably. It's enough for my needs, thanks. I still can change my power supplies to 48v and get a bit more, but right now it's ok.

Help me understand stepper maximum speeds

Hello guys, I've been struggling with my steppers for some time.

I'm using those "famous" nema 23 3nm steppers from ebay with the following specs: 4.2A 3.8mH 200 step/rev being driven at 36V.

Re: What do you think of this design?

That cnc uses rack and pinion with geared steppers. My modification will be to use ballscrews. I've yet to figure how to attach them. I'm waiting for some parts to arrive yet.

Re: What do you think of this design?

Sorry guys, the first photo is just the "top" of the machine, it will require a table.

The machine is suppose to be raised from the bed, as in this photo:

These are 8080 extrusions, I think they are fine (cncrouterparts use 4080 IIRC). X axis will be several extrusions tied together.

What do you think of this design?

Some time ago I found this cnc model and I liked how simple and rigid it looked.

Now, I'm buying parts to make my own cnc...
