  1. Re: Just had to post a few videos of my new Automate CNC mill

I can't talk bad about Tormach's. I have 2 of them and they have served me well. I've been running production with my 770 for a long time, and just added the 440 this January. It's been a great...
  2. Just had to post a few videos of my new Automate CNC mill

I know this is mostly a Smithy forum, but since Detroit Machine Tools is the parent company for Smithy and Automate, I hope it will be OK.

    Re: ATC Crash

A friend of mine found the solution that he implemented on his ATC's (he has 2 1100's), and he also helped me implement it on mine.

We took the entire ATC hub assembly apart, and drilled and...

    Re: Homebuilt 4th Axis

No reason not to. I did by making a 4th axis relocation kit. In all fairness, I have a 6" rotary tho.

Just program your part without having the "machine" showing. Then you can approach the tools from whatever direction you want.

Re: First part off of the Automate FL300 II

Hi sin_arms, I am looking at pulling the trigger on an FL300-II myself. I sent you a PM as well.

Would like to know how you are getting along with it?

    Thanks,

Not really. Bitmaps don't produce as clean engravings as vectors do, plus they scale in size with no lack of detail.

    Re: Gib Adjustment

I didn't have the skill for doing the gibs either, or the knowledge or understanding of the process. I had a professional machine tool rebuilder do the work for me.

Cost me some money, but I...

    Re: Gib Adjustment

Well, I'd say QUITE a bit. Tormach's official tolerance is about .0013" and I'm now at .0005".

    Also, if I machine out a 1" x 1" square, I am now getting EXACTLY 1.000" x 1.000" in 6061 aluminum....

I actually didn't. I had a company near me do a rebuild on the ways and gibs of my machine.

WAY past that now. I got upset and took my mill in and had it professionally rebuilt.

Cost me a chunk of money, but the machine is nice and tight now.

Re: Review - Bodor Laser BCL1309XU

I haven't heard about any units having rust on the frames. I will agree with the overseas support tho. I'm very tech saavy, so when I have had questions, I was able to figure things out. However,...

All you should have to do to release the estop is to give it a twist, either left or right, I can't remember, and it will pop back out.

    Hope that fixes your problem.

I have the BCL-1309X and yes, it's a great machine. The BCL-1006X is the same, just smaller.

I'm very happy with mine, although I suggest NOT using the autofocus. It caused a friend of mine...

I'm happy to report success! I have eliiminated the tick marks at 12,3,6,and 9 oclock positions. Roundness of a 1" dia interpolated hole is .0005 to .001.

    Re: Diamond drag engraving

Kind of hard to measure how deep it engraves as the point is so fine, but it does do a very nice job. I would probably guess .001-.002 with multiple passes.

    Hi 3dLabCo,

I'm afraid I don't know what kind of 220v power you have there. Here in the US, we have 2 legs of 110v power to make up the 220v, but I know other countries are 1 leg of 220v. This...
