    Re: How to start...

This will get you what you need.
It is not perfect, so you may want to play with the numbers some.
I used a 0.500 diameter endmill for this.
Let me know how it turns out!

Re: I can't import model from Solidworks

Save your file in SolidWorks as a Parasolid .x_t this will solve this problem for you.
Or you can update to the latest version.
I can not remember off the top of my head what version had issues...

    Re: How to start...

    FlorinMBV

You will need to use the "Curve Wizard"

    See attached:

1st step will be to create curve from surface and then surface edges

2nd step will be to unwrap those curves you just made...

Ok I have the file open and the OD of the spiral is 0.906 inches...
    Is this correct?
  17. Re: what is the type and use of each of this endmills?

You should get some 2 flute and 4 flute HSS "High Speed Steel" endmills to get started.

    Probably 0.250,0.375,0.500,0.750 diameters.

Those are the most common sizes.
    2 flute for plastic, wood...

Yes....If, you are going strictly for Milling, and no Turning.

  20. Re: Delcam FeatureCAM - PowerMill differences

FeatureCAM is a "Feature Based" CAM program, that includes all milling types and tun/turnmilling...the milling side is, in my own words like a "PoweMill Lite" version.

    PowerMill is a very powerful...

  27. Re: Machining time prediction from CAD model

    Start off around 800 SFM
    600 SFM is good too.
If this is true brass, and not alum. bronze.

You can go as high as 1600 SFM on a finish pass.
