    Yeah, but there is a grain of truth in the analogy......

    actual beam power + optics gets you spot size and watts delivered per square metre, provided you can get say a million watts per square...

    I just checked my settings and with a 4" lens (which makes for lower power density) I cut 6mm MDF @ 12 mm/sec and 70/75 watts

    Drop that power by 25% for a 2.5" lens.

    1/ use a water chiller to maintain a steady water temp that never exceeds 21 celcius.

    2/ stick to maximum 75% of RATED tube power, not PEAK tube power.

    hold the laser in one place and hit the test button and it will certainly shatter glass... get your feeds above 300 mm/sec for raster engraving and you can throw 30 watts at it no problem
