The ESP becomes something like a W-USB (wireless USB)?
The female connector is indeed more protected to short circuits, so I will now use it in the CNC-controller too.
De male connector is then...
I did not know that's available, thanks.
Is for lathes only?
A virtual COM port for a WiFi connection could be nice.
Just some info, I ordered the "female Dsub-25 with nuts" because all my...
Nice configuration!
Same here for the24V that I will use on the Mega2560 to have sufficient power for the steppers drivers.
The mega2560 comes with MOSFETS for spindle etc. but to power mine(100Vdc...
Now I understand the complexity of it, thanks for being straight forward.
I will leave that programming to the proffesionals and will check in the future if it exists.
That leaves me with 2...
You lost me there
1) I expected to do a change in the Marlin firmware file(s) to be able to also mill with gbrl. Because 3Dprinting-Dual-Head(XYZA1A2, heating3x, TempSense3x,Fan) is...
The mega2560 has onboard drivers without optocoupler inputs and unfortunately can't connect both mega boards to the same driver.
But I have not thought of that idea before, good one, thanks.

2 X mega2560 is going to work but I have to switch all steppers, switches, between the 2 boards!
Alternatives for 1 x mega2560:
1) Check out SLOTs programming in wiki.
"...the stamp immediately...
Thanks for the clarification.
So for both milling and 3D printing with dual heads can work with the mega2560.
And Marlin & Gbrl are firmware variant family.
On the pc software side it would be...
In the past in a Fablab I used Cura for the Ultimaker 3Dprinter. I didn't know the firmware was grbl or could work with it.
I think that indeed the building aproach should be "correct sizing the...
Is the fusion360 post processor for grbl then needed with 3Dprinting?
And GbrlGru for milling?
@hfjbuis
Merlin when 3Dprinting drives the 3 steppers needed for milling indeed,
But which GUI-software to use for milling that hopefully can generate gcode too?
I thought of switching between...
I am familiar with both Merlin and grbl-Mega.
But which one can do 3Dprinting and CNCmilling without reprogramming the firmware everytime I switch between 3Dprinting and CNCmilling?
I've seen...
Hi, I'm in the process of making a CNCmill with the Arduino-Mega2560 and want to add Dual-Head-3Dprinting to it.
What is the best free (OpenSource) software and firmware to use?
Hi, I've made the basic ELS with some changes to the ELS-Boost design of Clough42.
I did this to accomplish an all-in-one compact sytem with the 3 PCB's.
Power through a simple 5V µUSB-plug....
Can I buy a license and will it still work on a newly build MK1-DIY?
How to buy the license?
The gauge is especially meant for that "sort of system it fits into" and "the style of the gear tooth".
The difference between 20 and 14,5 degree or between a module 1 and 1,25 is hard to see even...
When making replacement gears I need to measure the old gears as accurate as possible.
I also wanted to use a gauge for tool grinding purposes for rack gear and internal gear.
Metal gear gauges are...
Hi guys,
I had to do many deviding table jobs in the past that became more complicated.
I designed in time a simple all-in-one Standalone Rotary Table Controller to do my work.
Especially the...
Hi all,
Simulating the SprutCAM demo example file "Bottle" I noticed that on the screen the spindle is rotating after a tool change but on my milling machine it stays off after the tool change...
Thanks for the ideas, I have now a design for a DIY trolley.
I'm still looking for the commercial one in Europe. Untill now still no results.
For lifting in beam area the trolley is a good option....
BEAM:
So, you have shorter span width and more supports for a larger load(800lbs compared to 550lbs with mine).
I will have to do some engineering calculation in my case to dimension the beam...
Thanks for the replies, some ideas I have not thought of.
So, floats are no option!
That part was already programmed for entering a decimal at a certain position, but couldn't decide how...
He Dave,
In a confined area with the motor perpendicular to the beam is then a good option.
The quick lift of your milling machine can be reduced by half (and for twice the load) when using the...
Browsing your topic list I came across your overhead beam trolley and electric hoist solution (second video).
What made me curious is your fitness contra weights to compensate the motor to keep...
Thanks, glad I could help...
This is the finished POM_Delrin(white) dial after clean up with fine liner marker stripes(black).
Gives a good contrast.
Mill Z-axis dial now works great!

I'm using MPLAB with PICkit 2 programmer where as the chip I can change to whatever works good.
So should I use the Longs or FloatingPoints in this case?
I've developed a mode driven controller for the Rotary Table on a Lathe and Mill.
In the GOTO-mode for now it only excepts whole degrees inputs.
But how to rotate 0,241or 359,385 degrees in chip...
Took me some time to get it to work!
I tried to drive the Lathe chuck spindle at the back with my Rotary Table without drive belt.
But the bearing forces where too great resulting in skipping LOTS...
I really need a graduated dial fast and large possible spacings between stripes for more accurate operation.
I will make it with POM (plastic) 70mm.
I will paint the stripes with waterproof marker...
