    Re: Unlocked?

Resurrecting an OLD thread here. Are any of you guys that have unlocked the Tormach Mach2 still on here? I want to do it but haven't seen step by step instructions and the video above is no longer...

Re: PCNC 1100 Series 1 now what?

I second what ihavenofish said. Do not shim the base unless you can accurately measure a twist in the base. Here is a link to the process I went through of getting my machine trammed. Now I can...
  3. Re: Would Tormach 1100 be able to do a slotting application like this bridgeport 1.5

A 1/4" rougher with HSM tool paths could come close to the same MRR.

Re: Tormach 1100M Info Possible Series 4!

    I've tapped 4-40 in 416 SS and O2 with the ER-20 TC. I use a #42 drill (.0935) after I broke a tap with the standard #43.
  5. Re: Can anyone duplicate NYC CNC results with the LSC TAS endmills on the 1100?

    Great info. Thanks!
I've been using the ENCO 3 flute rougher and am on my last one. Been looking for a reasonably priced replacement.
  6. Re: Can anyone duplicate NYC CNC results with the LSC TAS endmills on the 1100?

+1. John has always responded to my emails asking direct questions. Seems he only responds to youtube comments in the first couple days after the video is released. He has several hundred videos,...

Re: Help me determine the best ROI!

Exactly, and when your sales exceed the capacity of the Tormach you can buy a faster, more capable machine with proven sales volume to justify the up front cost or outsource.

    Re: 770, 4140, massive chatter

*Check out NYCCNC videos on 4140 and Lakeshore Carbide's variable flute EMs. I've used the 1/4" 4 flute for lots of alloy steel parts (4130, 4140, 4340) as well as 17-4 and 15-5 stainless.

Re: Tormach 2200 Professional CNC - your dream list

I use one of these: https://www.mcmaster.com/#5372k118/=1ckepx9. If the tank stays full the coolant flow is adequate, once the level drops a little it becomes mostly worthless.

Re: Tormach 2200 Professional CNC - your dream list

    Bob,
The cheapest, simplest and most effective upgrade to the stock coolant system is to add an overflow container. I drilled a hole on the side of the tank as close to the top as I could and...

Re: Help me determine the best ROI!

    Good luck.
IF you have the work it’ll pay for itself.
If not it’ll make a really expensive shop ornament.

Re: Help me determine the best ROI!

    Master Arvist,
If this is for a true production environment then buy the most machine you can afford. In the long run the cost of the machine is small compared to labor. If you price 5-7 year old...

    Re: Current opinion on RapidTurn?

Awesome!!! Is the collet closer from Tormach? It looks like the one for the Slant Pro. Or did you source it elsewhere?
  16. Re: Can anyone duplicate NYC CNC results with the LSC TAS endmills on the 1100?

How tight was the ER nut? ER20 should be torqued to 59ft*lb, for sizes over 1/16". I've had better results since I started tightening to that range.

    Re: Current opinion on RapidTurn?

I'm in a similar situation, occasionally need a CNC lathe and use the "Mill as Lathe" feature. I've never had any accuracy issues though. Turned parts come out round within a few tenths. You got...
  19. Re: Runnin 17-4 Ph in the 770. Tips or tricks? Advise?

I've done quite a bit of 17-4PH on my 1100. LSC variable 4 flute 1/4" EM works good. Use high efficiency tool paths, low WOC (~.030) high DOC (up to .375) and calculate the correct chip thickness...

    kstrauss,
That works out to $.1417/Kwh. I assume there is a flat service fee in that also so you're cost per kwh is what $.12-$.13?
    I pay $.122 /kwh plus a $32/month service fee in USD. Your...

    Re: Drifting reference over time

Yes they do, steel expands at around 6 parts per million per degree F. So over 14 inches the change in length due to a 30 degree F temperature change is: 14x.000006x30 = .00252
    Enough to take into...

    Re: Dumb Thread mill question

I wrote my own macro for thread milling. Reads the diameter from the tool table. Allows me to make adjustments without going back to CAM.
    Easy to do in Mach3.

    Re: Dumb Thread mill question

20+ years ago I ran Cincinnatis with the 850 control (which was replaced with the 2100 around 1997) and they could do helical interpolation. Surprised than any control sold today would not have it.

    Re: Drifting reference over time

If the head was lower by .002 and you face both sides of the part then the thickness ends up smaller by .004. Depending on the acceptable tolerances it can matter alot.

I have had issues with the...

I did this 30x12 part on my 1100 a few years ago. 4 setups on each side.

A larger work area would make it a simple 2 setup job.

Re: Tormach 2200 Professional CNC - your dream list

Haas TM has a 7.5hp motor running on Single phase. A machine targeted at the gap between a TM and the 1100 doesn't need to go faster and doesn't need to cut faster (than the 1100), just needs to...
