Re: Mori Seiki EX0470 help please

It's a servo shift, Mori has a detailed procedure to home the gear set. Not hard to do. No tearing anything apart. I've done it 3 or 4 times over the years, but my hard drive with all my procedures...

Re: Double fixed support on ballscrew

Yes, this is VERY common to pre load the ballscrew. IT won't change your preload, as one end is fixed preload, and the other is floating with ballscrew tension. You will need to find your operating...

  6. Re: LB15 5000L-G Sudden Loss of Comms strange

Your not unplugging the cable with the machine on are you? Thats a good way to wipe out the rs232 port on a 5000. The error simply means it times out waiting for data. You are using a null modem no...

    Re: Okuma RU1 board relays

You must have an odd Cadet, all I saw had the RU1 board as well, and they are solder on.
I can't seem to find my Cadet electrical prints right now, only the OLD LB15. I'll keep looking, they are...
  8. Re: Building CNC Control Panels to Comply with NEC and NFPA 79

UL508A is also another good source for panel code, It goes through the SCCR requirements/calculations and when and where it's needed.

    Re: 6040 upgrade

Doing the same with mine eventually. I think it would help, if nothing else the bearing blocks have adjustment on them to take up any lash between the rails and bearings.

    Re: PCMCIA

From all my experience on those, the PCMCIA is connected to the MB with a small snap on ribbon cable, similar to a cell phone screen connector.
  11. Re: Fanuc 21 M - Memory card, DNC option not showing on controller

You won't have a DNC mode, it was called tape mode back then. won't have "Device", "MEM", "DNC-CD" either. That was on newer controls.

    Re: lathe grinding ways

We had a guy scrape a hardened bed on an old Mori SL65, he did a fantastic job actually, but took him a week to do 25 inches, and he was a master fitter. That machine still runs today, 15 years...

Lb 15 probably won't have the Ru1 board, early machines used ICE cube relays.

The centroid would be a slam dunk easy button on that machine, especially if you went with the full kit with motors.( even interfacing the old motors and drive is simple on that system). Mach 3/4...

    Re: Source laser cutter help

Can't see the image, but you'd probably need minimum 500watts in a fiber, probably minimum 1kw Co2, less if you went with stainless. Plasma if done right can hold pretty good size, i would think <...

Re: Generic servo tuning advice, yaskawa

Strange, according to the manual for that drive on page 308, it should have auto tuning..There is also some formulas to set the gains manually.
  17. Re: 2.2kw 24000rpm Huanyang Spindle won't exceed 12000rpm

I think you need to narrow down whats causing it. Put the VFD in manual mode and see if you get the 12K or 24K manually. If it's still not right in manual, then you know its in the VFD.
  18. Re: How to successfully pause 3D printing and turn off

Not if you want the part to stay on the build plate usually. Some printers have a power failure resume feature, but I find it only works if the power is out for a minute or two, once the bed cools...
  19. Re: Starting script needed for home made cnc machine

Marlin is great for 3d printers, but not what you want on a CNC. Your way better off going with GRBL or Linux CNC or one of the other open source packages for CNC.

    Re: Source laser cutter help

How large of pieces? Thats not a lot of budget for a full size sheet industrial machine, you'd need 15-20X that amount. In reality thats a good plasma table price range.

Sure hope you set the parameters up for the max RPM on that new chuck. Overspeed a chuck too much, and you have a bomb going off.
  26. Re: Haas VF-2 RS-232 Cable Using a Switch

Re: LX3 no feed after G01 command

Nope. Only uses the encoder for feed or threading. RPM comes from the motor encoder/mag sensor.
