    Re: opening a .obj file

Is the model transparent? Is it the same color as the BobCad background?

    Re: Whats wrong

The toolpath default color is green. Maybe you're seeing that? Right click the profile feature in the CAM tree and blank the toolpath to see if it was covering the blue wireframe.
  3. Re: Can’t compute toolpath via Slice Planar, get multiple errors

    Hi,
I just looked & you can still get the V23 build 1812 update from bobcad's support site.
Just go to software updates and scroll to the bottom until you find a button that says "click here to...

    Re: custom tool

That line going up the middle of the tool looks suspicious. The error message you received usually occurs when the assigned tool geometry can't be modeled in the simulation. Remember, solid lines for...

    Re: Extrusion

To my knowledge Bobcad doesn't have that function, unless the newer versions have it. (I'm using V30)

    Here's how I do it:

    Draw the two shapes.
Draw linking lines between the shape as...

    Re: slow threading

Exact stop mode forces the machine to hit the programmed points dead on before moving to the next point. It causes slow jerky motion on programs with a lot of tiny lines and arcs. G61 turns exact...

Hi Jmooresshop, Have you got this figured out?

I once consulted for a shop running all Mazaks and they kept throwing errors trying to thread mill. Turns out they ran their machines in IPR mode all...
  9. Re: post processor scripting variable output formatting

Believe it or not, I didn't know until last night that Bobcad was using Visual Basic Scripting. I was just poking around using what shell scripting commands I could remember from years ago when I...

This line in the post processor

    82. Standard drill canned cycle with dwell.
    n,g_canned_cycle,g98_g99,x_f, y_f,drill_depth,reference_plane,"[3T]"dwell,canned_feed_rate

    Created this program.

  11. Re: post processor scripting variable output formatting

I would think you're correct, but I have for an example is this drilling cycle presumably written by BOBCAD that I found in a post processor for a TRAK DPM milling machine.

  12. Re: post processor scripting variable output formatting

Thanks, I have a PDF of that page. I never noticed the spaces. I assumed it was the font type spacing. I tried it, but I still can't make it work. It also seem the version I mentioned with the double...

Re: How do I download POST for from Bobcad.com?

Go to bobcad's home page. Not the bobcad support site. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and look for "Downloads" then "Post Processors"
  14. Re: post processor scripting variable output formatting

    Thanks for the suggestion,

I had read that before asking my question, but it didn't work. So I later read through all the post processors I have and found an example showing this usage:

  15. Re: post processor scripting variable output formatting

I might have found an answer:

    2008. Program Block 8. store x y end values from g101 moves

    yb = MILL_MakeYString(MILL_GetYFeed())

  16. post processor scripting variable output formatting

I'm trying to build a custom post processor to use with BobCad V30 for a machine that uses it's own g-code format. I'm having trouble getting some variables to output in the correct...

  18. Re: trouble with retraction heights - adaptive roughing

    jay_dizzle,

I see what your complaining about now, but you have nothing to worry about. The tool isn't going to crash. It drives me crazy too. I would want it uniform. My preference is to have the...
  19. Re: trouble with retraction heights - adaptive roughing

I need to fix a mistake:

This applies to 3D adaptive roughing tool paths not 2D.

I realized the "Rapid Plane" setting for 2D pocketing is an absolute Z value relative to the "Top of...
  20. Re: trouble with retraction heights - adaptive roughing

    jay_dizzle,

What you are seeing is the difference between rapid retract and link clearance. When using adaptive tool paths you should set the "Rapid Plane" taller than your max pocketing depth....
