Just an update to say that we have implemented the fail safe on all 3 of our machines and all is now good. :)

The engineer took out the keyboard and basically looked at it, couldn’t find anything wrong with it and put it back. Believe or or not it’s been working since then.

The spindle needs air pressure to release the tool cone by pushing against spring pressure , imagine a clutch pencil. So I doubt it’s that and in any case you would have got a controller error saying...

We have the same issue with our newest machine which is only a few months old.
I am kind of wondering whether it could e a voltage fluctuation issue but really clutching at straws....

Had an electronics engineer look at it, he took the keyboard out and took it back to his workshop for testing. He came back a few hours later and said he could not find anything amiss...

You don’t have same spindle as us so I’m not sure how Mach air it takes. Did you specify the spindle?

Imagine the scene, a brand new machine wired and ready and the first time I do a tool set (with new batteries) the z axis doesn’t stop a totally wreck the spindle...

Maybe it’s just a faulty spindle
