good laser machine use 3 phase stepper motors, they have excellent performance for those kind of machine, much higher accelleration than 2 phase steppers, higher speed, not prone to loose steps.

Well ... do you have an auto tool change spimdle ? the ATC means AtoToolChange ... if not use the Mach2_3_Arcs_inch.pp.

I used to set my workpiece start zero position by using a cross hair laser pointer, which is offset by a certain amount of mm from the tool.
In mach3 I had a VB macro called by the "Laser Zero"...
