Re: at the start...the very start

30k in pounds will be difficult to get a 1KW fiber - but not impossible. However, there is a lot more to it then that. your running costs are quite high in that you will need Nitrogen for Stainless...

Re: upgrade 100watt co2 laser to metal cutter

Sorry, but the answer is simple. No. A metalcutting CO2 laser has a completely different head and controller system. Also the assist gas (probably O2) will need high-pressure piping, valves,...

    Re: Laser arcing!

You did remember to connect the black wire to the other end of the tube, right?

And no - that 220V power supply should be fine in your situation.

Re: No one could guess so far

Ok - so set the backlash back to 0 because it is really only for engraving. Try set the Auto close curves to 0.1 - or even as high as 0.5. If none of that works, you have a gantry straightness issue.

Is that engraving? It looks like cutting.

    Re: Which Tube Brand?

100W EFR F4 ... (and 100W power supply). Should run you about US$200 for the tube and US$150 for the power supply.

Re: No one could guess so far

Under "File Parameters" there is an "Auto Close" setting .... try that. Backlash is technically just for engraving, not cutting.

    Re: Laser arcing!

Pleasure! The only thing to look out for really is that the wiring is the same. There will be 2 green plugs, 1 x 3-lead and 1 x 6-lead. the 3-lead is mains voltage (should say FG AC AC - or similar)...

    Re: Laser arcing!

    Hi there

Absolutely it is the PSU. Probably dust (with a tad of moisture) caused the initial internal arcing. Cleaning it maybe took away the dust "paste" - but by then it was too late. The reason...

Re: 130w co2 laser LOSS OF POWER

It's highly unlikely that the tube is faulty - and there is no way whatsoever that the distance from the tube to the lens can make even the slightest difference if everything is aligned. You seem to...
  13. Re: X and Y axis problem. DOES NOT MATCH THE ACTUAL LASER HEAD

@KHOUJ - no-one said you are stupid - just the idea, in my opinion.

If you have a Leetro controller from 2003, who knows what would "repair" it.

However, you need to carefully read the OP's...
  14. Re: X and Y axis problem. DOES NOT MATCH THE ACTUAL LASER HEAD

@ Roger : That is on the production line - and highly unlikely to be with soap and water - more likely some type of solvent. And it's NOT just a PCB - it is encased in plastic. If others read this...
  15. Re: X and Y axis problem. DOES NOT MATCH THE ACTUAL LASER HEAD

All Ruida controllers show 3000 for the Z-Axis when it is "home" - why Ruida thought this would be acceptable, I don't know - but it is correct. The X and Y though, should show as 0.000.

    I made...
  16. Re: X and Y axis problem. DOES NOT MATCH THE ACTUAL LASER HEAD

What? Are you crazy? djmunt SAID he has a RDC6442G controller - which means it's a Ruida controller - you are talking about a Leetro controller. Don't confuse the issue if you can't read the...
  17. Re: Chinese Laser Problem - Loss of detail with engraving after installing new PSU

It certainly seems to be putting out too much current - for your tube (which may be the issue, and could damage the tube). A 50W tube should not be run at more than 28 mA. There should be a tiny...
  18. Re: Chinese Laser Problem - Loss of detail with engraving after installing new PSU

The best way to check (if you don't have a H/T tester) is to put a multimeter set on mA in series between the black wire (the return wire from the tube) and the power supply. With the power set on...
  19. Re: Chinese Laser Problem - Loss of detail with engraving after installing new PSU

The tube is not getting enough power - that power supply is definitely too small.

You might want to consider a Waterjet cutter - depending on your budget.
