for the money, if youre considering the xsTech and the price, might as well look into an OMIO X6 and provide your own PC with mach3/4. just dont get the orange -EPL versions with a cheap all in one...

On my particular LMS 3990, the X gib strip holes do not line up with the set screw holes on the saddle. quality on these is just not good, its the worst part of the X2 size mills.
I have been using a Tormach in another shop and and the pendent jog shuttle is great.

i has two concentric dials, one for...
sorry, i guess i was being dense. now i realize what it all means.
i just need to supply my own constant 5V or whatever from my 48V power supply using a DC 48V to 5V step down converter (same...
Hi,
It's been a year and I really havent cut many chips with my LMS 3990 conversion, mostly for lack of time and working on other things. Despite that, I have now decided to add flood coolant and...
i would avoid the Fusion kit. try mbbilici Conversion kits for home machines his kit looks better thought out and his responses were timely.
Hi, another question. Have found the router prefers g2 and g3 curves with r values, and just not interpret I and j values correctly?
Yeah I have the orange box too.
I think the g18 are from helical drilling turned on. So that hasn't worked for you either. Ok.
Did you try adaptive clearing?
I'm interested in learning...
I power my ESS board with this 5V AC-DC power supply.

I have the supply AC side connector simply...
I have been trying to use an Omio X8 with basically a rebadged DreamCNC controller. I am also wondering if anyone has had found a free CAM software with a compatible post processor. Fusion 360 will...
Fignoggle has a very good write up about making his own gibs.
I hadn't realized you can just buy new ones, makes it more convenient to modify gibs if I don't have a second mill available.
...
I use the air spring that came with my 3990. Whether it really needs it or not, I cannot see why you wouldn't use some assist.
My ballscrews from Fusion are not as smooth as I wish, but I found...
i got my old PS2 (wired) controller working with a HDE adapter to USB. using Keygrabber works great. it jogs and high speed moves well.
I also tried the Joypad plugin. I'm guessing the...
hey, thats neat! yeah I've realized i really need to COMPRESS the air. i like this idea of repurposing a cheap commodity appliance unit.
ill keep it in mind for later. thanks.
A little update.
I went with that 48V radial fan blower. I haven't used it but I wanted to show how I think I'd like to mount it right on the side. I really like how it just fits, and uses some...
fwiw, i appreciate sharing the pics and thought process.
so for vacuum source, i assume you guys are using a shop vac? every shop vac ive used, even the small ones are just too loud. is there a quieter alternative? and whats the expected lift of a shop...
I thought I'd share my fixture plate for my 3990 (oversized x2) bed. It's made to fit that 4" kurt style vise. There's a big warning that this vise doesn't fit on the minimill, but with the freedom...
Neat. Thanks for sharing.
Do you use the driver itself to torque the drawbar? Or unnecessary with the battery powered impact performance.
I thought I should add that now that I got my system running, if anyone buys the Ethernet smooth stepper, you really need to buy the MALE db25 to idc26 serial cable to connect to the g540. Every ESS...
so MDI, manual data input, you really input single strings of text for each command? for what kind of action do you recommend this?
I know this might sound backwards, but is there a good way to manipulate your CNC machine using Mach3 so you can operate it more like a manual mill?
Say I want to edge off some stock material,...
Funny, I'm at about the same process right now with my LMS 3990 conversion, and here in Anaheim. Doing things differently with automation technologies 380oz-in steppers, g540, ESS and CNCFusion ball...
Ah, you know that seems like a much simpler option.
I'll keep it in mind. What size pump do you use or recommend? That exact model? There appears to be several different sizes around the web.
so i just tested a 24V blower motor that came out of a 3D printer and the results were satisfactory. i necked the output down with my hand and seems like it will be enough to direct chips out of any...
that sounds like a reasonable alternative. except when i looked at the price of a silair 20a, im no longer interested. sorry.
building an enclosure around a noisy air compressor motor is the...
Would small 12v squirrel cage get me closer? And just curious why does an axial fan not create enough pressure.
Maybe it was covered in college, but it's been awhile....
I've seen the reviews...
I'm looking for an alternative to compressed air to blow chips without an air compressor.
Something tells me a desk fan with funnel isn't going to work, not exactly sure why, Google isn't giving...
an update.
progress has been slow, but i finally put together the whole FusionCNC kit together on all 3 axis.
i'm really, really not a fan of this kit. The Y axis i already ranted about, I...
received my kit.
FWIW i would not recommend buying anything thru CNCfusion. shoddy quality, total lack of communication after they took my money except for a shipping notice. i've only gotten...
