On another topic - does anyone here rebuild there fixed-end ballscrew mounts? If so, how often? Simply clean and re-pack with grease?

Re: Ballscrew Locknut tension - fixed end mount

I once found an old THK document with locknut torque figures, now I cannot find where i saved it.. BUT I do have an NSK document that states 20.6Nm for an M25x1.5 lock nut and 5Nm for the set screw....

    Re: VFD 5.5 kw

Digging this up from the past but thought the solution might be useful for anyone else in future.

To make this VFD go above 320Hz, you need set F00.11 (Frequency reference resolution) to1...

Re: 800Hz Spindle vs 400Hz VFD

Looks good! The more machining I do lately the more I wish I had ATC. Even just setting up the probe to locate features is slow with the ER20. The probe always needs adjusting..

Thanks Mactec, they have the following listing but don't tell you what size is inside each spindle. I may order a spare set just in case they're ever needed.

No it all seems to be back to normal now. I think it needed some time to warm up that day. Otherwise I emailed Wafer (a while ago now!) about what grease to use if I was to strip, clean and regrease...

For what its worth: I run one of these BAP400R style face mills, 50mm diameter, 12mm shank (for ER20 collets) at approx. 9000RPM (300Hz) on my spindle. I could possibly go slower but haven't pushed...

He mentions that he uses the settings in his other video: https://youtu.be/ZOdCpw7xnQA

He has a 2 pole, 400Hz, 24000RPM, 6.6amps. These figures are shown in this video: https://youtu.be/pWNeW-lH9RA

Re: 800Hz Spindle vs 400Hz VFD

Fair point about the extra 300W.
Mine and Fox's are both 220V units, the specs engraved on the spindles are 6.6A (2.5kW) and 6.0A for my 2.2kW.

When I look at the torque graphs for these...

Re: 800Hz Spindle vs 400Hz VFD

Yep, so what I don't really understand is how some people run 8-9-10amps (when the spindle is only rated to say 6.6amps in the case of Fox's 2.5kW jianken 2 pole), without doing any damage and they...
