I think there was a reason Practical CNC went out of business....
Yeah, it was a ground problem before, and I ran a new ground wire again this time, but maybe I need to take another look and check all my grounds... Thanks for the tip about shielding the encoder...
ugh... thanks for the advice. I'll have to decide what to do next.
Have you seen this thread by the way...?...
I did take a quick video of them but I didn't see anything else underneath them or on them that had more numbers (other than what's visible on the picture)
Here's the video link:...
And here's another brighter picture of the back with the cover removed.
Anything other picture requests?
Here are some inside pics of the right side, a close up of what I assume is the "actual" servo drive boards, and the left side.
Anyways, here's some picture of what I've been calling the CONTROL BOX. The inside, back, and outside pics. (Tape measure included for size reference)
I know I told you that I've never opened that...
Ok I took some more pictures, and I also want to clarify that all I want to do, is use this controller I made to manually move the servo motor up and down while the plasma torch is cutting on the...
OK... maybe I'm getting confused on terminology here... I've had this machine for over 10 years but honestly, this is the first time I've heard the term SERVO DRIVE...
Here's what I'm thinking, I'll...
Sorry, I thought you meant servo motor, not drive. So you need to see what is on the other end of the cable going into the encoder on the top of the servo motor correct? It goes into a Practical...
Here's some more pics, hopefully you can read the label good... it's a little messed up. These were factory installed as it came from Practical CNC in Michigan. (this is a CNC plasma cutting table)...
How do I tell if it'll take a step and direction input?
Do they sell a simple servo drive for this that I can use completely separately. As in what if someone gave you this servo motor, and you wanted to use it to control say a doggie door or something...
Because of a problem I'm having in another thread, I want to build my own THC basically. Or more simply put, I want to control a servo motor separately.
I want to disconnect the Z axis servo...
I have an old Practical CNC table with a new TD Cutmaster 82. I'm using WinCNC and have no THC. (I just use a pendant for THC) When I start the cutpath, as soon as the torch starts, the Z drives...
In case you guys were interested, I thought I'd show you some cuts of Niobium. Element number 41 on the periodic table.
This is 3/8" thick, and this stuff holds it heat for a long time! It cut's...
Looks great! and it's sooo nice and clean! and Is that an Xbox conroller or something...?
well it's two totally different things... My full time job is installing security systems. I don't think they have any interest in metal cutting.
Do any of you guys do this CNC stuff as a part time job and keep a full time job too like me....?
I just want to know if there is anybody else out there as frantic as I am becuase in the past 2...
What guage do you guys use for weathervanes? I was thinking 16 so it's light enough to spin in the wind...
I'd like to see the back side of that piece with the holes in it if possible... also how thick is that?
Good point, he's already told me he cuts up the stuff with his Plasma so he doesn't have to give such a large chunk to the WJ guy.
But again.... good point!
Guess I shoulda clarified... I will be cutting this with a CNC Plasma table...
I have a customer that is going to be using me to cut some weird metals and I'm wondering if any of you have any experience with this stuff. He makes parts for vacuum testing units that test...
It was a while ago but I think these were the settings...
Pierce height and cut height was .130
pierce dwell was 1.5 seconds
and I was using a 100 Amp tip and the standard nozzle.
I stuck...
I have a TD 151 also, and it cut this on the first try. I'm happy enough with it that I would do it again...
I'm not real happy with the back side of the holes though...
100 amps
10 ipm
Throw some goldfish in there...:)
I have a Practical table, and although I have had no problems with mine yet, and was cutting the same day I got it home... I would still probably buy a DynaCNC table if lightning struck and I had to...
SamsonCNC Linky
So I got this real nice brochure today from Samson. It looks alot like the Plasma cam brochure, and the table is very similar to it. But larger in size. In one of the pics, the controller says...
