Do you have compressed shop air? That is what I run, via a regulator, and it works great. Not sure about the epilog lasers, but I run between 30-60 PSI depending on the job, on a Trotec SP500 120w....
mactec54, That's true I missed that, you could use oil or another coolant though. I know with mine, there was no way regular tools would have worked the first time it was rebuilt. Years of being run...
Thanks @acidcustom that is a good tip!
Hi mate,
I don't know about Minitec, but you can get ITEM extrusion from Modular Components, which is what I use. It is really good quality, but it may not be the cheapest option. There's some...
Really nice work, makes me want to spend more time on there laser! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Dave,
That's great!
The 2.0 Lens has a really short focal distance so if the height isn't perfect it'll start sloping right away. The nose cone with the small hole also doesn't allow much...
That sounds more like your height might not be set correctly... What length Lens are you using? 2.5, 3.75, clearance or not? Are you using the auto focus or setting it manually with the focusing...
Hi mate,
We have the speedy 500...
Yes the red dot does drift somewhat, as it doesn't originate from exactly the same spot as the the laser beam... 3-4 inches is a fair bit though, I would be...
Trotec sell great machines and they are made in Europe as well (Austria and Germany I believe). They have small format as well, but they are a bit more expensive.... The positive is with a ceramic...
What brand of robot is it and what is the 7th axis, a track or rotary table or other?
What cam software are you using?
What type of timber do you mainly intend to mill?
A lot of your questions...
Cool looks great, thanks for the pic!

Cool machine! Looks very capable. I'm also using the KR actuators on my Z and they're working really well. Do you find any difference in accuracy of the parts for the different axis?

Hi,
If you look up the cone of the spindle you will see a Allen key slot and two divots. This is the set screw which holds the position of the clamp vertically and the divots can lock the clamp in...
This is a great looking machine!! Nice work, look forward to seeing some video! ;)

Hi Daniel,
Top bearing retainer as you say was left hand thread.
Regarding the nose bearings there is two retaining nuts to remove, first one which you remove during disassembly is the one that...
Hi,
Glad to hear what your doing, sounds like fun.
I would be asking about warranty on the laser tube. I have known of other people with Chinese machines, going through multiple tubes in a year....
Hi,
Thanks a lot everyone for your help! Turns out that particular thread is a normal right handed thread. It was absolutely crazy tight and took a lot of heat and effort to get it off......
Hi, Thanks for the responses I really appreciate it!
mactec54, I had noticed the damage to a couple of the parts, it looks like someone who had this spindle previous to me had tried unsuccessfully...
Hi everyone, first post but I've been lurking around for a while and enjoy reading on the forums here.
I'm in the process of disassembling an old (circa 1997) HSD ES919 spindle to clean it up and...
