    Why cant you home your machine...unless you are manually zeroing ...in that case to find your coordinate again you can manually jog to a hole and write on the DRO

    You can jog the motor one turn forward then one turn backward to see if it come back to the same place .
    There is a verify function for that on the setting page of mach 3 though.

    Try to move the motor by themselves , not coupled to the machine , to make sure there is no binding or anything preventing their movement. If every things fail like handlewanker said

    Hi, if you are using Mach 3 , I would make sure the G540 is receiving a direction signal from the computer.You can reconfigure your pins from Y to Z axis, to make sure its not parallel port...

    dont know how much current is needed for your motor but according to gecko the value of the resistor between 1 and 5 on the db9 should be amperage X 1000 . Unless you misread the code bar, 2 ohms...
