    Re: Servos

I'll back the Clearpath offerings as well. If/when I was to upgrade my machine I'd go straight to these, they have a drop-in replacement for my steppers.

    Re: Servos

To add to the "Pro's, they are also much quieter and less prone to resonances at lower speeds. Must say however, the various sounds of steppers can be quite pleasing at times :-)

You could also consider a DIY hybrid of some type. For example, the gantry and electronics components from one of the more popular kits then make up your own steel base/table frame with profile...

Re: Is it cheeper to build

Building or retrofitting or even repairing a machine can be both very rewarding and frustrating.

With your years of experience doing what you did you can probably also appreciate the issues when...

    Re: Axiom

If the base price with the DSP is reasonable, it wouldn't take much cost/effort to replace the controls with UCCNC and an AXBB control.

What I didn't mention was that the RichAuto DSP controls...

Glad to hear you have made progress and are getting to where you want to be.

    Re: UCCNC for Plasma

There are probably open source packages that can do this. There have been several large open source updates recently but I am not a user of laser/plasma machines.

    If the operational needs of...

  13. Re: Cam Software, for multiple manufacturing site

Not sure what you are asking for.

    1. Do you mean you want CAD/CAM software that can be loaded onto a server and accessed by multiple client desktop PC's from the design/drawing perspective?

Re: Looking for a 3 axis for plywood

    Welcome!

No mention of where you are, plywood details (type, thickness etc) or budget but a full size machine for whole sheets is more expensive especially with rigidity for that size.

    Software...
  15. Re: Is this a motor stall, skipped steps, or something else?

Sounds like the acceleration ramp values are set too high. Your old machine you mention belt drive giving a better torque for motion. The picture of this machine looks like direct drive from motor...
  16. Re: Selecting one of multiple layered tool paths

No mention of what you are using. Use layers in the drawing software to generate specific tool paths.

For example, an outline using an etching tool is on layer 1 (arbitrary layer number but a...
