Dunno really its hard to say. The terminals are soldered to the pcb and there's traces. The PCB appears fully populated and the manual, although in chinese, does clearly reference rs485 and modbus...
Oh. Yeah well that would explain it. How do I go about checking the rs+ and rs- terminals have rs485 hardware enabled?
Hi. I have the following set;
000 = 0
001 = 2
002 = 2
003 = 240
004 = 400
163 = 1
164 = 1
165 = 3
Hi all
Thanks to ger21 and Dan for their work on uccnc. I've been happily using the 2017 screenset and thought I'd give rs485 spindle control a go.
Sadly I've not been able to get it working...
Hi Gerry,
The model is a solid done in Solidworks. I've checked the resolution of the toolpath and its 0.01mm which seems more than enough given that my machine is good to about 0.05mm. I have...
I'll have a look. I can see some settings related to motion control and tolerances including one's that set interpolation and arcs to lines.
Best thing I think is make a small 3D tool path and...
Here's a section of the code
Are line segments bad for 3D and cause this sort of thing?
Take a look at this video, I use perpendicular strategy that follows the curvature of the surface.
The 3D work is right at the end and you can see the ridges being formed.

Hi Derek
0.2mm in this case but I get the same results regardless of step over. I've tried 0.1mm upto 0.5mm.
Hi Andrew,
I've tried it as low as 1m/min and still get the same.
That was my first thought but its very consistent and independent of axis ie. doesn't matter if your stepping over in the X or the Y axis its all the same. Also doesn't matter what speed I run it at,...
Hey Gerry
Problem is the step direction is as shown in the arrows.

Hi there,
I'm using Mach v3.42.40 and getting some issues with 3D work. What I'm seeing are ridges that run perpendicular to the step over (ie. if you step over top to bottom, the ridges run left...
Ps. For anyone struggling with this release. There is a work around for the large files. In options go to CAM-Part > Cleanup CAM-Part and select to remove the stock models.
Still struggling with...
Don't know if SolidCAM care about listening to customers but your SP1 update to 2013 is a joke.
Simulation speed for solid verify has gone through the floor on anything but very basic jobs. Not...
Hi
I'm having some difficulty figuring out the best way to mold a two sided part. I should add that I'm completely new to this.
This is a large part measuring 950x180x100mm. I'm not sure what...
What's the travel of your Z axis?
I had something similar and it would only come down 150mm.
Thanks, now got it probing the full length of Z travel.
How do I adjust the semi auto tool change macro to allow for a larger Z axis?
I have approx 230mm of travel from the home position(top of Z) my fixed plate and the macro quits after around 150mm.
A quick tip. Choosing CW or CCW will allow you to adjust and internal or external four nub cycle on a particular part. This is effectively the same as selecting left or right cutter orientation used...
Many thanks for your help cncdecoder. I shall give this a try later today.
Hi folks,
I have the trial version of SolidCAM to test out see if its worth stepping up to from VCarve Pro. At the moment I'm struggling to get to grips with it as its far less user friendly than...
The person you describe, a young guy called Michael, is exactly the same person I've dealt with at Strike CNC. I have little doubt your machine comes from the same stock regardless of branding.
No problem. That was my backup plan anyway but nice to have it confirmed.
Yes its both a new machine and a fresh mach3 install.
I can't seem to find the Set Step Per Unit option in 2010 screenset.
Where is this hiding now?
An addition to this thread. I have my own experience with Strike CNC detailed in this thread here:
Strike CNC (My first CNC router)
If you can't be bothered to read that long thread then I'll...
thankyou I will give that a try
Hi guys,
Hope you can help me out with this. My problem is shown in the attached screenshot.
I'm very new to all this but what I'm trying to do is do a finishing pass with linear step over...
