I got it figured out. On my machine it should be 160V across the DC terminals. Mine read 167V. Just tuned the A to D pot until the controller displayed the same voltage. Problem solved!

Just found a YouTube video explaining the ac input pins and the DC output pins. Shown in pic attached.
Previous questions about correct voltage reading and how both of these relate to the DC buss...
So I should measure DC voltage on the pins circled in red?
What voltage should these read? Both the same? Should both readings match the DC buss readout on the diagnostic page?
Does the A to D...
I am getting a 160 alarm for low voltage on our 98 VFE. We just moved our machine to a new location and our incoming power is different from our old location. Old location we were at 244-245V. New...
Jim, thanks for the response. The name plate says Full load 40 amps, Largest load 30 amps. So the 40amps should account for the LRC?

Anyone know how to find the locked rotor current for a Haas VFE? The electrical engineer who is designing our electrical for our new building is requesting this information to provide the power...
The machine was on the right tap range for the incoming voltage. My line voltage is around 242V, right at the top end of the second to last tap range. The tech said that because I had the spindle...
got it figured out. Called the local Haas tech. I had replaced the spindle drive about 2 years ago. It was a rebuilt drive so apparently some of the components may have been different than the...
Incoming line voltage looks good. It is between 242-245V
So I've been getting a 160 alarm for a long time now. Can't remember how long but probably over a year. In the past I have just waited a little hit reset and I was back up and running. It used to...
Update: Just got off the phone with the service tech. Looks like the spindle drive is no good. He had me measure the output voltage with the spindle on and there was no output voltage. Looks like...
measured voltage to the drive. L1 is 120V, L2 is 120V, L3 is 213V. L1 to L2 is 242, L2 to L3 is 243, and L1 to L3 is 245.
Initially it did try to rock back and forth a few times. I wasnt counting so I'm not sure how many. Now it doesn't do anything it just sits there for a bit and then alarms out 116
Ground wires on the motor side seemed a little loose. I disconnected them and retightened. Restarted the machine and still nothing... does the motor drive auto reset (i.e. if the fault is fixed,...
Okay, so disregard my post on no errors. This is my first time working with a motor drive, so didn't know where to look initially. Found the manual and have been doing some digging. I found the...
I checked the spindle drive and it isn't showing any errors. When I turn the spindle on the drive clicks and shows a frequency, but spindle doesn't spin....
Yesterday I was running my edge finder at about 1000rpm when the spindle just slowly stopped spinning. I tried turning the spindle back on and got nothing. Restarted the machine and during the...
Woot! back up and running!!!!! i just needed to clean everything a little more thoroughly. I had originally only blown air in the top brush locations as it was very difficult to get access to the...
Mike, Haastec,
Thank you. I was able to get the y axis toggled off and this made the 175 alarm go away, so I'm 100% certain it is the y axis now.
I did pulled the brushes off the y axis...
haastec, how do I toggle DISABLED to a 1 in this menu?
Mike, thanks for the response. I think I have made a little more progress. I found a wiring diagram in the service manual for the servos and identified the motor +, motor -, and ground wire. On all...
If I disconnect P5 from the I/O PCB the fault goes away. This is the servo power. Question now is which servo is causing the short? Is there a way to disconnect each drive individually without...
I have now cleaned the carbon dust from brushes on the x, y, z servos. Still getting the ground fault detected??? Anyone out there have an idea what I should try next?
I found the service manual on line and have been able to disconnect the fans, oil pump, turret and shuttle motors from the I/O PCB. The 175 ground fault detected is still present, so I guess that...
So I am trying to isolate where the ground fault is coming from by disconnecting each of the motors called out in the manual associated with this fault. I have disconnected the tool changer turret...
I recently purchased a '98 haas VFE. This is my first "real" cnc mill, I've been running a 3 axis DIY CNC grizzly mill for the last 7+ years and it was time to get something bigger. It was...
Thanks for the info. I will try repacking the bearings. Any specific grease that you would recommend?
I have a super X3 mill from Grizzly (G0619) that I converted to cnc a little over a year ago. I also changed the pulley tooth ratio to double the spindle speed. I've noticed that above 2500rpm or...
